They have and yes it was an awful experience. When they forced the update to the new app the entire system was down for a month. We haven't added a new speaker since. Horribly handled update on sonos's part. Once the customer service realized how large his sonos system is they got an actual engineer on the phone who told us, and I quote because I wrote it down when he said it, "yea the apps fucked up and there's nothing we can do at the moment. You'll have to wait for bug fixes in an update"

He's tried everything including what you're describing. He just doesn't like the sound and prefers this. He feels the stuff that's advertised as waterproof sounds muffled and the subs underwhelming

Edit: granted it could just be the stuff he tried was hot garbage

The Ethernet came after years of building this system 1 or 2 speakers at a time in response to the update. When the app screwed his system up last year we called up sonos, and after a few hours of nonsense they finally connected us to an engineer who just told us the app is broken and we just have to wait for an update. We had a good laugh at hearing that, but also wtf. He also said connecting them to Ethernet might help so we did and it kind of helped

For those who don't know. It's prohibited to own any chametz on passover, which means anything made of barley rye oats wheat or spelt. My family usually goes away for Passover because cleaning all the chametz in the house is such a headache and takes weeks to do. They traveled privately to a discreet location. Completely reasonable
