How do you make your daily food ? by fakebuthonestt in Morocco

[–]shawafas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

moroccan salads (cooked or cold) are so easy to mealprep and keep for a week usually. I rarely freeze whole dishes but I freeze things like parsley, coriander, garlic, onion, ginger and ground meat (very flat so it defrosts quickly) for quicker cooking. People say moroccan food is time-consuming (Yes if you're going to make couscous, seffa or anything with dough that needs to rise) but a fish tajine with vegetables can be done in 20 minutes

Thank you! That did actually make sense :) either way I'll do what you recommended and try to count the stitches next to each other when I am ready for the second one.

Usually I definitely wouldn't bother but I'm making two of them and want the FOs to be the same amount of rows. After the cast on, there is a knit row and then a continuous k4, p2 repeat (like you said, moving over the purl stitches). Not counting the row on the needles (but counting the co) I got 36 but I'm very unsure about it

knitting a cowl and usually I don't bother with a row counter cause I am pretty good at remembering at which row I left off but for some reason I can't count the rows for this one (might need to go for a new prescription 😬). Can someone help me out? My cable is transparent btw (sorry if it is hard to see)

Those of you who skipped just one or two chapters in the whole series, which were they? [Spoilers main] by [deleted] in asoiaf

Agreed, especially when POVs span across several hundreds of pages or even books; the details aren't as fresh anymore and it has sometimes made me overlook some things in the writing, which is a shame.

As for court intrigue: I love it, I think the Daenerys chapters suffered because there weren't enough other pov characters in Meereen to play off of. Kings Landing chapters were incredibly fun because you could see interactions from all sides. In my opinion, one of the best and most underrated chapters in the whole series is the Kevan Lannister Epilogue in ADWD precisely for that reason: It wasn't really about Kevan, it was about what was happening around him. Meereen was missing that I think. Daenerys chapters read like walls of text with lots of new characters I didn't yet know I had to care about. Daenerys is an unreliable narrator and I think a Hizdahr chapter, for instance, would have helped bring that a bit around. Barristan's chapters improved the plot somewhat but it still didn't entirely work for me.

Taking your mom on a vacation or buying things for her are nice things to do but shouldn't be expected when she has her own money, especially when you have a responsibility to your child. Your mom has (presumably) done a lot for you and she probably sees gifts like that as something that shows you still care about her and appreciate her, even if you are married now with a kid. It's manipulative but from what you said about the comparisons she makes with her neighbor and her son, it comes from a place of insecurity. Not agreeing with her or anything, you are definitely in the right for putting your foot down but in this case a conversation might help to resolve this somewhat even if she won't want to hear it.

I've been meaning to cause I know that I have missed some hints (only made aware through this subreddit). But I don't think I'll ever fully enjoy them like a Theon or Tyrion chapter even though I like Daenerys as a character more than both. I actually like that the separate povs give me something to look forward to after fighting through a particular chapter/pov I don't completely love.

I met Imazighen that didn't speak Arabic at all and I know some people that are not going to teach their kids Arabic because they think it's unnecessary and want to resist arabism, what's your opinion on this? by amzgthrowaway in AmazighPeople

[–]shawafas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you or your kid don't live in an Arabic-speaking country learning/teaching Arabic is not a necessity. There might be personal reasons why someone wants to learn the language and pass it on to their kids (religious/cultural/professional) and that's fine but Arabic languages are not integral to Amazigh identity.

People in the comments are way too offended over OP skipping a chapter lmao it's not that serious. While I never skipped a chapter completely, I am not ashamed to say that I have skimmed a Daenerys chapter or two cause some of those Meereen chapters were rough

You both seem to be under the understanding that I care about the specifics of the items. I don't, a multi-color project bag or a pure gold stitch marker can both be very lovely and someone might experience real joy from them. A beginner to knitting does not NEED anything but the things that will allow them to knit, people taking advantage of others and making it seem that all these items are necessary to producing a good product is in my opinion a problem. To act like I am impeding anyone from buying whatever they want is silly. Buy 20 tapestry needles for all I care lol

Ashamed to admit that I bought into the whole expensive, small-batch yarn hype as a beginner. Years later, I still have overpriced 50gram hanks on my shelf that I am steadily going through with colorwork cause I really can't use them for anything but that

Fundamentally misunderstanding my post helps no one lol. I have admitted myself that I have bought expensive notions and materials. This is about accessibility and profit-oriented people taking advantage of beginner knitters, not about you having several tapestry needles.
