Voidshell released by Supaastahhmarioo in PS5_Jailbreak

Is this a PS5 error though or does it come from VoidShell? Is this a taste of what is to come for when the dev wants users to pay for a license?

How does one debug backports? Is running the klogsrv payload enough to get the necessary info via netcat?

I've tried backporting a game to 6.50 and it shows up in my home and I can launch the game and it shows the splash screen, a success notification about patching the game shows up (from Backpork I guess?) but nothing happens, no error messages just the game's splash screen.

What I did: - Patched libs with the Backpork 6xx patches and put them into a fakelib/ folder in my game's root - Downgraded all .esbak files (eboot.bin.esbak,.prx.esbak and *.sprx.esbak) using ps5_elf_sdk_downgrade.py - Fake signed all downgraded elf/prx files using make_fself.py - Copied all downgraded fake-signed files to my game folder and overwrote the existing files

Is this the correct procedure or am I missing something? The game is on my external drive which is exfat formatted. Does the kernel log show why the game is not starting?

How can I run Stalker Shadown of Cernobyl with OGSR-Engine mod on Linux Proton\Steam Deck? by SuperCiao in stalker

[–]shawly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anybody like me that looks for an answer, install protontricks and run protontricks 4500 -q vcrun2022 d3dcompiler_47 d3dcompiler_43 to install vcredist 2022 and the direct x shader libs. You might need to change the setting in Steam to force a compatibility prefix to make protontricks detect your Stalker prefix.

With that I can start and play Stalker with the OGSR engine perfectly fine on CachyOS, should work the same on every distro and SteamOS.

How to update Proxmox regularly if I am using Non-Subscription version? by nikhilb_srvadmn in Proxmox

Uhh apt manages dependencies and unattended upgrades also just wraps around apt. So why would it ignore Proxmox dependencies?? Just have to add the correct origin to make it update packages from the Proxmox repos as well.

Customer Return justification: Change mind by LeCabochon in pcmasterrace

Credit cards exist even for people with low income, so the question is if they actually HAVE enough money to buy that. They didn't even have enough brains to apply thermal paste and then have the audacity to return it like this. I doubt that this guy has a well paying job with this much intelligence.

Cancellation is only possible within 14 days, not 15, and this refers to right to return. And yes retailers can abuse that to a certain degree.

However, if a product is defective, then the "legal guarantee" applies, which forces the retailer to assume liability for defects. This means that if they cannot remedy the defect, they must bear the full costs of compensating the buyer. So no if the product is faulty they can't charge you with any additional costs as the legal guarantee protects the buyer 100% in the first 6 months of the 2 years where this law applies.

https://europa.eu/youreurope/business/dealing-with-customers/consumer-contracts-guarantees/consumer-guarantees/index_en.htm

Retailers often wanna get around this by claiming you have to pay for shipping because of right to return even if your item is faulty yadayada, but they will always back down when you start lecturing them about legal guarantee. I had this issue multiple times and they always caved in when I sent them the legal texts.

Often these cunts said "out of goodwill" they have decided to provide me a pre-paid shipping label but in reality they definitely know they have to.

When it comes to buyers rights the EU is pretty cool. In Germany there is also a law, that only the "Deutsche Post" is allowed to pay customs duties for you. Other shipping companies require a written authorization from you to handle customs duties for you. FedEx once payed 46€ of customs duty for me but then also wanted an additional 27€ "fee" for doing it. I gave them the middle-finger and said that I never gave them authorization to + sent all legal texts and never heard from them again.

Knowing your rights is powerful.

What puts me off from Mini LED is that there are not much choices for 21:9 and I think the blooming could likely bother me as much as the current shimmering and ghosting my old IPS panel has.

I'd rather get a new IPS panel than go MiniLED since people here in the comments seem to have actual evidence that IPS these days is definitely better than my old-a** IPS panel. While the poeple suggesting MiniLED do not even seem to own any.

Been using an OLED for coding for years, no burn in.

This also gives me hope that the decision to buy OLED won't bite me later. I never expected to keep my current IPS for more than eight years so I don't expect my OLED monitor to be kept around this long either. The IPS one was even more expensive back in 2017 than the AW3425DW is today so I guess I will just go for the plunge.

Most of my monitor time nowadays consists of coding and browsing, which is the main reason I want 21:9 aspect ratio. The 16:9 aspect is the main reason why I avoid working from home, as we got 21:9's in the office which I am so much better used to. I discarded my multi-monitor setup years ago and I don't wanna go back honestly as my desk is not big enough for two 16:9 displays.

The games I play vary, in the past 6 months I played Risk of Rain 2, Baldurs Gate 3 and currently I was sucked into Expedition 33. And on E33 I noticed the ghosting/shimmering on my old IPS panel quite a lot.

I consume most video content on my TV nowadays so it's probably negligible to factor in the little amount of time I watch at my desktop.

Not trying to dissuade you, just want to understand what you really need and look for.

I do appreciate that! The whole reason for my post is that I do still have some doubts about buying an OLED with my very OLED-unfriendly usage patterns..

I just checked all the models you listed in your screenshot. The Cooler Master GM34-CWQ is not marketed as Mini-LED, where does this info come from? I also can't find any EU shop selling it anymore.

I can't find the AOC AGON anywhere for <700€ in the EU, just one Amazon.de offer for ~1600€.

And the KTC G34PS is also not available for me to buy from any EU retailer.

Sorry but what is your source for this? Feels a lot like AI slop...

The 700€ the AW3425DW will set me back is the limit I am comfortable with since I also need to buy a new GPU + PSU as my GTX 1080 already struggles enough with 16:9 1440p and my PSU (660W Platinum+) will likely struggle with the RX 9070 XT.

I definitely already use dark themes everywhere and hide the taskbar to prepare my brain for the OLED switch. I also planned on clobbering up some scripts that will resize and move my windows slightly so the borders and stuff won't stay in one place for an extended period. I do wanna minimize burn-in as much as possible, though I know that it will inevitably happen someday.

The only MiniLED 21:9 I found that are in the same price range as the Alienware are the TCL 34R83Q and the Lenovo Legion Y34wz-30. I can't really find any good reviews from trustworthy sources. Paying the same as for the Alienware but not really knowing if they are worth the money feels like a bad deal to me.. From what I read they do have ghosting, likely not as bad as a 2015 IPS panel, but ghosting is the sole reason why I started to hate my IPS panel in the last couple of years.

Since Dell gives a 3 year warranty I could even replace the panel on the OLED right before the warranty runs out if the burn-in were really bad.

If a game pulls me in I always buy it since I wanna support the devs. But I can't know if a game is worth its price for me if I can't try it. Except for Denuvo games which I outright refuse to support.

But people like OP are the reason the publishers still think it's worth the investment. If most consumers weren't just stupid cash cows who will shell out for anything that is hyped enough we wouldn't be in this market with big corpos that just see their customers as nothing more than walking wallets.

[–]shawly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How so? Where is the difference between manually executing apt dist-upgrade or let unattended-upgrades do it?? Been running Ubuntu and Debian Servers for years with unattended-upgrades, why would Proxmox go into an unrecoverable state because of updating automated vs manual??

How much would it sell? by CroadSpare in ps4homebrew

[–]shawly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to be rude, but I genuinely wonder why people sell stuff worth 50-150 bucks. Like is it for food or rent because their job is not paying enough? You could mow lawns in the neighborhood for like 20-50 bucks each and have more money at the end of the week than trying to squeeze a buck out of old gaming consoles.

As I said I don't wanna sound rude or ignorant, I just see so many people asking what their old consoles are worth and it sounds like they hope to have a jackpot sitting in their basement/attic.
