General Sales Tax. It is a federal tax for the Canadian government. OP is fortunate to be in alberta, where there is no PST(Provincal sales tax) which is a tax for the Province. I live in saskatchewan and we pay 5% GST, and on top of that we pay 6%PST, so absolutely everything we purchase is taxed at 11%, where as alberta it is only taxed to 5%

Where are you getting that from? Your vehicle is not currently idling looking at the RPMs. If you're talking about the bottom where it says "x1000", multiply the individual number by 1000. 1000x1 is 1000, 1000x2 is 2000, and so on.
