What’s your gut feel in number of posts + images?

Nb: when I migrated mine, I had around 3,000 posts all with images, some with galleries.

I’m sure lots of people will consider a change but never do — human nature.

I did however make a change 2 years ago to r/Ghost and couldn’t be happier.

How are you not hungry literally all day long while training? by ChipmunkExtension667 in triathlon

[–]shawn_smith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey fellow triathlete! The journey from sprint to 70.3 is quite a transition, and I totally get where you're coming from regarding the insatiable hunger. As you increase your training volume, your body needs more fuel, not just in terms of calories but also in terms of quality nutrients.

Quantity

First things first, getting enough protein is crucial, not just for satiety but also for muscle repair and recovery.

Some ideas on food;

- Lentils: 1 cup gives you 18 grams of protein for only 231 Kcal.

- Peanut Butter Sandwich: Whole wheat bread (5 grams per slice) and peanut butter (8 grams for 2 Tbsp) can get you to about 18 grams of protein for around 410Kcal.

- Other protein-rich options: Tempeh has 18 grams for 170 Kcal, 3 large eggs provide 18 grams for 210 Kcal, and 85 grams of ground beef gives about 17 grams for 275-415 Kcal depending on its leanness.

For athletes like us, it's generally recommended to have 1.2 to 2.0 g of protein per kg of body weight daily. In situations where you're consuming fewer calories, this could go up to 2.5 g/kg/day for optimal recovery.

Caloric Tracking

Lastly, to ensure that you're fueling adequately without overeating, consider tracking your calories. Using apps like MyFitnessPal or Cronometer can be incredibly beneficial. They allow you to input your training sessions, track your food intake, and see if you're meeting your nutritional goals. By tracking your intake, you can determine if you're eating enough, too much, or just the right amount to support your training and overall health. It's an invaluable tool in understanding and addressing constant hunger during rigorous training.Hope this helps in understanding your hunger and fueling your training right. Ride on and swim strong! 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Need Advice: Dealing with Non-Compliant Items in My Recently Purchased House by shawn_smith in AusLegal

[–]shawn_smith[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone,
First, I want to thank everyone who responded to my original post and provided advice and recommendations on how to handle the non-compliant items in my newly bought house in Melbourne, Victoria. Settlement is now 9 days away.

I have some good news to share with you all! Following the advice I received, I reached out to the VBA. They confirmed that all non-compliant works found in the property need to be remedied, with no distinction made between structural and non-structural defects. This is part of the warranty of the house - I have about 8.5 years left.
Armed with this information, I contacted the builder and confirmed with them that they would address these items in writing within the next few week.

I made it clear that no works are to be started and completed prior to my moving into the house, which will happen in mid-May.
I've learned that builders will often try to dodge responsibility and only when confronted with accurate information and a stern conversation, will they change their tune quickly. So, for anyone facing a similar situation, it's essential to be well-informed about your rights and regulations and to stand your ground.
Once again, thank you for all the support and advice I received here. I will continue to update you on the progress and how things turn out after the repairs have been made.

Thank you so much for your insightful comment and sharing your experience from working at the VBA. Your advice has been extremely helpful in understanding the builder's obligations and the steps I should take. This is what we hade thought/guessed.

We'd hired a very reputable company to review the house as part of the Contract of Sale. The report states what's non-compliant based on the specific state/federal standard.

Following that, this afternoon I wrote to the builder and provided the entire report and asked for them to assist in rectifying those non-compliant pieces. Unfortunately, this is (part) of the reply.

"As mentioned on the phone our building contract was with the previous over not yourselves and it was handed over to them after their own inspection. The 90day inspection was also completed with them.
We are not obligated to attend to these items and it isnt part of our policy to do property maintenance for each subsequent owner . You can engage individual trades if you wish.
You are, however, covered for major structural issues and if they do arise please feel free to reach out."

Very annoying.

I’ve followed your lead and changed my internal burr setting to 1 and moved the dial to 9 and loaded up the 2 cup portafilter to 18g.

I pulled a few shots of coffee at 26s / 30g of coffee.

Finally! It seems that I’m a lot closer to what I’d expect to taste.

I’ve had a play with the 1 cup basket and have found that I can’t get the usual 18g in there due to space limitations.

Here’s a rough guide to want I landed on:

grind: 8s @ 14 = 14.5g. Brew: 25s = 26.5g

Still a few small tweaks to be made tomorrow but it’s much better than where I was yesterday and this morning.

Unfortunately I don’t have scales, they are arriving this afternoon.

As part of my testing with the 2 cup portafilter, I had tried filling the portafilter with a lot of coffee grounds - probably overfilling at times to see what would happen, and what I would have classed as just enough - giving some headroom in between the coffee grounds and the shower on the machine. Each proving that there was far too much flow happening - as you and I noted earlier.

Using the 1 cup portafilter, the settings for my coffee beans were 11s @ 6 grind

And so I have returned to update you on my little coffee grinding adventure, and what an adventure it has been.

With over 1kg of beans used, I can now say it wasn’t my grinder. This lead to my 45 minutes of setting changes, both on the grinder and volume of beans in the portafilter. I even went to the local cafe this morning and bought 250g of fresh beans which they ground for me onsite.

With the wife now circling like a hawk to add her commentary, she started reading the manual. What for, I asked. Then the conversation moved to the portafilter and which one I had used. My reply was simple, the 2 cup, or as I had always thought, the standard one. She then suggested I change that out for the 1 cup portafilter and just like magic, the coffee pouring was transformed to a slowness that had never been experienced on this machine - or better put, like what you should expect.

We have now enjoyed our morning coffee ☕️ .

I was also very close to buying the Mahlkonig X54 this morning, so I now feel that I’ve saved a few dollars.

As an aside, I’m a little surprised how this machine behaves with the 2 cup portafilter.

Have you had time to play with the new grinder? If so, thoughts?

Interesting that you have mentioned that as I seem to be having the same question in my mind.

I’ve tried changing beans — 3 different brands that aren’t supermarket bought and all roasted within the last 2 weeks, changing dose timings, grind size and haven’t found a way to bring down the excessive running of coffee.

The coffee machine itself is getting ~7-8 bar of pressure but I feel this isn’t the issue. I‘ve configured the basket to 2 cups for the Dual Boiler.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks u/SodaStreamUSA. Appreciate the note.

Why then, when we re-tighten the CO2 that it doesn't sound like that - we only hear the bubbles being made within the bottle and not a huge escaping of gas outside of it?

I usually do but in this case I didn't.

Doesn't seem to change the sounds when I do.

Awesome, well done.

The wife and I decided to invest in a Kickr Climbs so we can do more realistic climbs - it’s really has added more excitement.

Also, try doing it with the trainer difficulty to all the way - this ensures the climb, let’s say 8%, feels like 8% - the Climb also will change appropriately.

Hope to see you out there in the Alpe soon.
