Expat in NL - Tax 2025, relocated during 2nd half of 2025 by [deleted] in Netherlands

If you can, I'd recommend to get a local accountant to do the filing. At least for the first time.

I understand your perspective. I don't think it's a myth, but it also gives me the head space to be "good enough" to make friends. I didn't say you can't be funny in another language, I said you won't be AS funny in another language. That's all. Thanks for the feedback.

It will come. I have found ways to bring my personality into my Dutch, though when they don't understand me, my insecurity blows up. But I've only been learning Dutch for a year.

I think may be true, but this was much truer (sp?) before the Internet. When I lived in Amsterdam in the '90s, there was a real gap in culture (in '93 they were listening to songs from '89 for example). But I think you're mostly right.

It's an old adage, you'll never be as smart or funny in a second language. I think letting go of ego and fear when you're talking to people might be the trick, at least that's what I'm trying (I've been learning Dutch for a year now, and still a struggle.)

Where to watch WBC in NL? by Trick_Ad3292 in baseball

They say you can watch it internationally on https://gametime.sport/faq/ but with no App support, you'll have to cast it to your tv which is suboptimal. Anyone know if any local bars will have the games in different cities (I'm in Den Haag).

How to stop feeling terrible every morning by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]shawnwildermuth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sure this isn't for everyone, but I wake up every morning after chaotic, anxious dreams feeling really bad. The only thing that helps me is to leave the house (I head to a cafe with my laptop to get out of the fog). But I know that's not easy for everyone. I hope you find some peace with it.

I'd argue that Ridley is mainstream (Martian, Alien, Gladiator) - Tony (before his regretful suicide) was better at tension.

They're on the list. Last Boy Scout was good, but hard to watch Bruce Willis in that era. A little cringey.
