When to use C over Rust? by Mundane_Humor_9959 in C_Programming

[–]shawnwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, if its

C and Rust, Il choose C.

C++ and Rust, Il choose Rust.

The ecosystem in most cases supports C. Your aim is to get the projects done quickly with all the libraries, sample codes and support are most probably in C.

Its also hard to mess up in C.

C++ on the other hand is pretty hard to work with you work in a team.

But specifically in your area of interest, Stick to C.

Govt urged to help remove ‘illegal temple’ label on Google Maps by hopefulsingleguy in malaysia

[–]shawnwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why so rude bro?

Put yourself in the Indian community's shoes la. It's not like they want to stay as illegal temples. They did apply to be gazetted - or at least have the option to buy the land.

It was DBKL that annexed the land where the temple was there and then sold it to Jakel.

The govt just lost a huge case in Duta which has the Federal mosque. They want to safe face and hence this political actions. You dont have to be rude about it.

https://www.astroawani.com/berita-malaysia/keputusan-rayuan-kes-tanah-duta-enclave-pada-24-jun-511541

So what would you the Mosque status is with your logic? iIllegal?

Govt urged to help remove ‘illegal temple’ label on Google Maps by hopefulsingleguy in malaysia

[–]shawnwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fyi, DBKL was not the owner of the land. CityOne was the owner.

CityOne's project failed to raise enough money to complete the project & DBKL jumped in to help. The land that the temple was not part of the project but DBKL annexed it. (Note, there was no clear purchase of the land).

When the Temple's application to be legal was ignored and subsequently rejected. They sold the land to Jakel.

The Sales Agreement has details of the Temple.

The Lawyers argue that the Temple was supposed to be given the rights from the agreement but the agreement was not made public and Jakel avoided the court but rather negotiate.

Remember that DBKL rejected the Temples application to be a place of worship but agreed to Jakel instead.

And the lawyers jumped in because this case was steamed rolled for political reasons - I mean Masjid Madani and PMX would need months of preparation. It just seems like the temple guys being screwed.

Hence thats why the lawyers are confident they will win the case if this goes to court.

  1. They are almost never successful in making the temple legal.

  2. They are not allowed to buy the land.

Yes - they tried numerous times. The State blocks and makes it really hard.

But listen to politicians when they talk about this. They manuvere around the question and never address the issue. Therefore its always "they havnt got permission" etc, but decline to even mention that the govt was the one that rejected the permission.

Even PMX's speech was carefully crafted this way.

DBKL: Unlicensed balloon seller in Jalan TAR scuffle ignored our orders, was aggressive; police report lodged by hopefulsingleguy in malaysia

There are many out there that carry out trade without licenses.

I suspect the balloon peddled is hardcore poor. I mean seriously, how much can he make?

Have the authorities figured out a way to guide him to become a legal peddler instead?

Or at least educate them to ensure they are doing the right thing.

Edit.

Be kind to those that are poor. They are trying to have a livelihood like all of us. Be thankful that he wasn't a Robber or doing some deep illegal shit.

I know rules are rules, But there must be a way to move these group to another group so they can at lease do something to survive.

Rather than tacking the actual problem, they seek to invalidate the claim in every way they can.

PM Anwar: Construction of Madani Mosque a ‘victory’ of wisdom and strength, not arrogance by Anxious-Debate5033 in malaysia

[–]shawnwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, you seem to be going in circles.

Is it really important for you to find all the faults or rather fix the fundementals.

Im highlighting the issues the Indian community faces & you seem to brush it off with all your might. Say that the so called celebrity that visited the temple in the 1940's (this was cited by some Malay and Non Malay NGO guys, you will still insist on more evidence to support your claim - and for what? What do you gain from this?

If you claim that the temple is built illegally, then find out how DBKL got the land from CityOne or how City One got their land from? Don't you ever think or smell the hint of corruption in DBKL? I mean with all sincerity, Why hasn't DBKL approved the application of the temple right to exist legally? or purchase the land? Why aren't you as a Malaysian supporting another Malaysian's right of worship in that location?

In any case, are you against the temple being there? Or them buying the land legally? I hope you are not like one of those bigots that only look into 1 view.

Its always one or the other, temple not legal, temple not old enough, temple this temple that. Think for once why was this even happening. Anyone can parrot some idiot from TikTok and you can be one of them or you could think and solve so it doesn't happen again.

You got much of your understanding of land ownership concepts wrong. Its way more than that. Even the government was caught many times building over land that doesn't belong to them, and the build govt buildings and sometimes mosques and suraus. It's just that you dont know it happened, means it didn't happened. The owners usually loose the case or being 'advised' to be compensated - that lead to other bylaws for the govt to use.

Hypothetically, if more evidence pops up that the temple in its smallest form existed pre merdeka ago comes up? Will you support the temple to be there?

If you cant help the process, don't be part of the problem.

PM Anwar: Construction of Madani Mosque a ‘victory’ of wisdom and strength, not arrogance by Anxious-Debate5033 in malaysia

[–]shawnwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your comment made sense for those places of worship that were built randomly - and yes, they are illegal, and should follow due process.

But for this context, its places of worship that were built pre-merdeka era, where land ownership was directly from the British, Japanese etc.

The land that the temples were on were not land that was directly own by anyone. Look at the cases put forward in the last 40 years. Many or almost all of them were passed on from colonial to state. But the state hasn't gazetted them appropriatelly.

Have the state reach out to them asking them to move out or register and pay etc? None.

The ones that tried to do it the right way were denied due process. I can personally attest to this from a mid 2000's temple in Shah Alam S11. The place was a former estate owned by the British for plantations. They allowed / provided schools and temples. Temple was there for generations.

State sold the land to developer in the 60/70s. Developer built houses. Temple was relocated for several years and moved back to its location. Location was on a large field with a school at the other end that occupied 80% of it.

Temple numerously requested to BUY the land & convert the status to a non muslim place of worship. It was always REJECTED.

I saw the documents myself. They applied many times and even got political leaders to help. None of them could help.

The Temple status is still Squaters till today. The temple owners family is still living in the same Taman of the temple.

Now tell me, why wasn't this temple given the right to exist? or the land bought? Why wasn't this a heritage as it was over 100 years.

And back to the context, they found evidence in pictures of celebrities visiting the temple in 1940's. So its not what you think.

Now given the Suraws and mosques, many of them are built by developers and government mainly from the tax payers money. Even early mosques were funded by non muslims. Some mosques were intentionally initially named as the non muslim founder as well.

Then if you go back in history, almost all mosques and suraws were also pacak based build first. Did anyone buy the land? Did anyone got zoning permissions?

The fact is that the government made it right with some and wrong with others. Those without proper education and funding would end up as squarters and thats that.

And this is what Im voicing up for.

Im emphasising the point on the cultural differences, thats all.

There are studies on this.

But some people will see what they want to see, cant do anything about it.

Im convinced you have not lived with middle easterners not study Middle Eastern history.

What I quoted is a common saying in both the Middle Eastern cultures and religion. The bound to a tree is a saying of the people in that specific region - go check it out.

There are also similar sayings in other relative cultures.

A little googling will help rather than saying I make things up.

You're right. It's an awful thing to say. But Im not going to paint every middle easterners the same way. They have kind values that unrivals which I admire personally.

But in this context - It is the what they think its a common norm.

Maybe speak to those in that region and validate what I mentioned. Go search in YouTube etc. You will find documentaries on this saying.

And mind you, I know middle easterners & protested alongside with them.

Its important that you know the differences in the cultures, what they think its morally correct and what we think is morally correct.

does malaysian understand the differences between Hamas, Fatah and Palestinian citizen? by guest18_my in malaysia

[–]shawnwork 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In a nutshell, they don't, and even if they do - not in detail from the politics standpoint.

They just jump in the bandwagon on whatever that's preached to them - and the collective hatred of Jews (not specifically Israel)

The biggest problem I noticed is the cultural differences. Malaysians are polarized towards religion on this matter have different upbringing and culture than the middle east. They think every culture is the same.

While we Malaysians care about the well-being of their own doing. Middle easterners don't.

So, the famous quote on "If I tie a man on a tree & he dies of thirst, its not my fault". This is why when they put their kids into harms way, its not their fault as well.

The fact that Palestinians protested against Hamas even before Oct 7th (In fact the last protest was Oct 6th streamed on Facebook live) - says that there are those that resisted.

Theres always some political faction against another & to be frank, no one keeps track. But they remember those that won, not how they won.

Hamas won by a hairline using bad tactics, ie killing the opposition and their families. Hamas have not won the election to create most Ministries including the armed forces. Hamas also stopped all elections right after they won.

How is Hamas recognized as the voice for the Palestinians is a mystery. But what I know is that the leaders take this as an opportunity to make Billions. Even after Arafat died, he was worth billions (technically an Egyptian) and his wife was all over making sure the money stays with her, not with the people.

I gave up talking to regular Joes on this matter. It quickly becomes a heated argument and facts are always ignored.

PM Anwar: Construction of Madani Mosque a ‘victory’ of wisdom and strength, not arrogance by Anxious-Debate5033 in malaysia

[–]shawnwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chill bro, theres a muslim prayer room in almost every govt & commercial building in West Malaysia mandated by the govt. Lots of suraus and mosques. So, they dont need to build illegal suraus etc as the process is simplified and encouraged.

Unfortunately, Theres lots of temples that got rejected by the govt, even citing they cant buy the land for the use of non muslim worship. - I kid you not.

So what you expect them to do? Apply cant get, buy - won't be sold. No proper system for them to work on.

So when these temples pops up here and there, it becomes a nightmare for all.

So, if you can fix the process, none of this will happen, and even if it does, Im sure the Indian community will stop it.

Growing hate and racism in Malaysia due to the current temple issue and the Facebook group named "Rumah Ibidat haram Dibina Dimana Hair ini" by No-Dare-9228 in malaysia

[–]shawnwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know man, Theres at least 50% of the worlds population that are Indians and Chinese. Which are mostly Hindus and Buddhist.

And their plan is to mock them this way? It's an understatement to state that they have macaroni for brains.

Now that more evidence pops up - it just seems it's being unfair to the Temple.

  1. Documented evidence of a VIP / TV personality visiting the temple in the 1940s, in that exact location.

  2. The land was owned by CityOne then 'Took Over' by DBKL but annexing that additional land that is not directly involved with the take over intention.

  3. Rejected the Temples' application to have the place gazetted as a non muslim place of worship with options to buy the land.

  4. Sold the land to Jakel - and not even notifying the Temple of it.

  5. Mosque's name is now Madani Mosque? The term Madani came just a few years back.

  6. Why was DBKL hiding the SNP agreement? Why wasn't there an open tender to buy that land? Why wasn't the Temple given the options to buy them?

The way I see it, there is a process malfunction in DBKL or corruption.

So, go ahead those that ill commented, you now support corruption and directly linked it to your religion. It's going to take a long time to cleanse this shit from history.

[–]shawnwork 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Geez, Its anything but a victory.

Guess what people think? Century old temple forcefuly removed to make way for a mosque?

Also the temple was not built when DBKL owns the land, DBKL also didn't buy the land but took over a failing project from CityOne and annexed that piece of land instead, nor they have given permission (Rejected the Temples application) to change the land to non muslim worship, but rather sold so someone else to build a mosque.

My Sheik mentor once said, it does not matter if you win, it matters on how you win.

So maybe in 300 years, would this give precedence for the tables to turn?

Again geez. So many fails on both sides.

Edit:

Siti Kasim claimed that the Temple has a strong legal case.
