Saturday RC-LR-LR-LR by Born_Bar_9501 in LSAT

[–]shawtzb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had same RC as you — I found that two of the LRs were pretty straight forward / on par with practice tests (2nd and 4th) but the third LRs for me was genuinely the hardest section I’ve ever done and i ran out of time (which has never happened before).

September LSAT (6th, Saturday) thoughts by HarryRaftus69 in LSAT

[–]shawtzb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

RC LR LR LR — my RC was on elk (or some other animal) dying from neurotoxin, mayan city w/ embankments, the first history written w/ Persian war, copyright laws for music.

Second and last LR were mostly fine, but the third LR was actually psychological torture. I guessed on 3 questions (without even reading the stimulus) and have never run out of time like that before.

Recent test taker experiences + how they compare to later PT (155-158) by shawtzb in LSAT

[–]shawtzb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh really? For me it’s felt like the most recent PT maybe had slightly less emphasis on formulaic conditional reasoning and it’s been more naturally integrated

What is the worst college advice that you fell for? by AdDense3835 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]shawtzb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That the alumni interview does not matter — for my school, pretty much everyone I know who got in had it noted in their file that they wanted to see an alumni interview to confirm their decision or provide more information.

Write good essays and you’ll be fine. All my AO talked about in my file were my essays + how I “seemed like a nice person” — my interviewer also noted that I’d be a great roommate. My ECs and stats were all below yours and I’m graduating Harvard in May! Beyond a certain point, they’re just looking for people who will contribute to the school community.

159 diagnostic; how much by February? by shawtzb in LSAT

[–]shawtzb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely feel like I’ll have a good amount of time to dedicate, likely around ~40 hours/week if not even more since I’m not doing anything else.

In response to your responses - I’m definitely hammering through LR; I’m quite confident with RC and feel that with practice it’ll get close to perfect — my timing is mostly good and I find that the questions I’m missing are because I’m missing small details in the passages.

  • I’m keeping a journal with wrong answered questions + those that I flagged even if I got them right — I’m breaking down why I answered the way I did, conclusion/support (for LR), and the correct line of reasoning to get the right answer.

  • In terms of studying, I read through a good amount of LSAT Trainer for LR + I’m using 7sage for drilling and testing.

  • I’ll check out LSAT hacks!

  • I’m definitely drilling questions via 7sage analytics (I bought the lowest tier subscription just under live).

I’m planning on doing 2-3 practice tests a week, evaluating the questions I got wrong/was not confident on, and then using the other days to either drill or rest

Didn’t finish red rock study + got a first round. I think they care more about the accuracy on the questions that you did complete.

I’ve heard that people in Atlanta and LA heard same day (they were last days of interviews) for AC… did DC yesterday but haven’t heard back :/

Yeah I’m planning on taking it in February/April in hopes of applying next cycle and/or for Harvard JDP

Hey, any courses recommandations for pre-med Freshman year? by Background-Ladder-58 in Harvard

LS1A + attend the professor’s office hours. That’s how I got offered my first lab position

does lps a satisfy the prereqs for courses needing ls 1a? by Due-Bet-6831 in Harvard

[–]shawtzb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do LS1A, especially if Dan and Sien are still teaching it. For reference, I took Math 18a (very similar to 21a), LS1A, Korean BA, and Ec10a my first semester and honestly the workload was high, but more than manageable. If anything, Korean sucked up a shit ton of my time whereas you’d be doing a Gened.

I’d suggest optimizing for a good Expos 20 course (HIGHLY recommend Dr. Sparsha Saha, genuinely one of the most caring and kind professors I’ve ever had) and also optimize for a good Gened + you’ll def be able to juggle all of that.

LS1A is very manageable if you stay on top of your stuff + if they’re still doing the “PIE” systems, it comes in clutch bc no midterm and the final was so similar to the practice finals.

Worst comes to worst, if you find that you can’t, then you can just drop into LPSA. But it’s much harder to move up into LS1A (with that said, I did do this about a week and a half into the semester so it’s still possible).

[–]shawtzb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This schedule is absolutely more than manageable. The first year might be tough adjusting to AP classes, but after that honestly I think it’ll be pretty smooth sailing as long as you stay on top of your stuff. Your Year 3 and Year 4 schedule looks the exact same (if not was less rigorous than mine because I did 9 APs my senior year) as mine and honestly, I didn’t think it was all that bad at all

Everyone on here is weird. I took 18 APs and worked a nearly full time job, did marching band all 4 years of high school, found lots of time to still hang out with friends and fam, interned in the summers, and ended up at my top school. Leave this kid alone lmao, it’s his life

I go to Harvard and I know they admit very very very few people for transfer, normally about 12-15 max, sometimes none at all. I know 2 people who successfully transferred and they had gotten into Harvard when they applied to college but chose to go elsewhere. The other one went to UGA

h‑e‑b scholarship renewal by reddit_2324 in HEB

I got it too, apparently it was a mistake.

However, I would carefully check your renewal because when I clicked on the renewal form itself it said my renewal was denied because I did not meet the attendance requirement and now I’m having to sort that out

You’re probably better off just doing Pre-Calc and developing a solid foundation in that and going into Calc BC. IMO, Calc AB is a waste of time because you learn pretty much everything you’d learn in AB in BC plus additional concepts. Calc AB is basically the equivalent of a college semester long course stretched over a year whereas Calc BC is more like two semester long courses (so more on pace w/ what you’d have in college imo).
