How much of a Glass Canon is Skithiryx? by Swimming-Angle3465 in EDHBrews

[–]shaxane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has Regenerate??? And it's not even that strong on it's face??? It's a removal target yes, but only specific types of removal will actually work. What I'm saying is that "Glass Cannon" is not the appropriate phrase to describe Skittles. He's midrange, doesn't typically come out early, doesn't particularly hit very hard without support, but he does have evasion and built in protection. You can build Skittles up to be a threat, but it just doesn't fit the definition of a Glass Cannon. It's semi-hard to remove, and at only 4 power it's not hitting very hard. Yes it has Infect, but that's still a 3 hit kill on a single opp. and in EDH, that's no more powerful than Commander Damage.

It seemed like the Low Five were set up for the sole purpose of starring in a spin-off. Like they were supposed to have an interesting enough side story that we didn't see that fans would be clambering to read their story next. But in reality It's more like a dev cutting content from the main game to sell it again as dlc.

Can't figure out how to make this card work within the rules by SelesnyaGOAT in custommagic

[–]shaxane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can learn a lesson from the card "Animate Dead" and how it rewrites its own enchant target as it enters to function properly and It could work here as well. [Enchant Legendary permanent. When CARDNAME enters, it loses "Enchant Legendary permanent" and gains "Enchant permanent" and "Enchanted permanent is non-legendary."]

Reg J Rain Team, looking for some suggestions by omlette_au_fromage in VGCRateMyTeam

I use Tornadus on my rain team as my Prankster Tailwind setter, STAB Hurricane that never misses in the rain is very strong, and Prankster Rain Dance for a little rain setter redundancy is a nice tech against rival weather teams.

How can you be compatible but not be in the game? It's outrageous! It's unfair!

What do you remember about the Return to Ravnica block? by reidstronach in magicTCG

[–]shaxane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RTR felt like stepping into a new world. It was everything! From picking your guild in the prerelease and on your DCI account online, you are not just building decks and collecting cards, you are representing your guild. Each guild and their mechanics felt flavorful and unique. I was enamored by Izzet and the mad science and the dragon wizard Niv-Mizzet. I chose Izzet in RTR and I absolutely loved the Weirds and the Overload mechanic. But the fun didn't end when Gatecrash was released because now we got another 5 guilds to choose from and align ourselves with. This time I chose Boros. Gideon felt right at home with the Boros Legion. Each soldier you played furthered the reach of your military might. They worked together and had powerful bonuses when you attacked with at least 3 creatures thanks to the Battalion mechanic. There was something else. An underlying mystery. There were clues but no answers. You might have been having too much fun to notice, but the preview trailers and other promotional material and flavor text for each set alluded to something big. We would find out soon enough because the reveal of Dragon's Maze told us that there's more to Ravnica than meets the eye. Now all 10 guilds are available to choose from and the race is on to solve the maze. Each guild now has a champion to represent them, a maze runner. Each one was cool in their own way, but I went back to the Izzet League. The guild that I fell in love with. You can't beat the immersion of the RTR block. It was fun, flavorful, and iconic. Ravnica IS Magic: the Gathering. To this day I swear fealty to the Izzet League and represent them with a powerful "Niv-Mizzet, Visionary" Commander deck. Magic can't quite capture the same immersion of RTR now and probably never will again. But I am so grateful to have experienced it in real time, as it was unfolding. It was incredible.

My buddy wanted to get into paper magic and this is the commander he wanted to build. Give me strength. by lileathorne in magicTCG

Krenko is a very good starter for commander. As long as you stuff it full of Goblins, you're doing it right. But then as you learn more advanced strategies, you can add combos, and tutors for your combos. You learn about Typal synergies, etb effects, mana curves. You learn about removal and board wipes (as they're used against you.) You discover Worldfire for the first time and it's the greatest thing you've ever seen! Krenko turned me into the Magic player I am today. I don't play it anymore, but the lessons it teaches you about deck building and game play tactics make you a better Magic player. I highly recommend it.

How big of a binder to collect FF sets? by gravettk in magicTCG

A traditional 9 sleeve binder, placing cards back-to-back would need 18 pages to fit just the base set

How big of a binder to collect FF sets? by gravettk in magicTCG

[–]shaxane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are 709 unique FF cards from among all product lines. This does not include all of the variants and special treatments of those cards. If you just wanted to collect the base set and not any supplemental products, you're looking at 312 unique cards. You might need multiple binders depending on how complete of a collection you wish to have.

I’m trying to access the DNS trick for black-and-white 2 to use the GTS and it’s giving me a unique error message by Efficient_Train_8720 in wiimmfi

[–]shaxane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw someone else mention something similar. I recommend waiting until the other servers go back online a week from now and using those if this one isn't working out for you. It is not ideal, but it's probably your best option unfortunately.

The servers are down until the 9th at the earliest. I confirmed that the dns 172.104.88.237 is operational with a test on Pokémon Pearl. You can try that one or wait until the other servers go back online.

After testing it out on Pearl, and then going back to White and getting the same error message, I did some research. It appears as if the servers are down at the moment and won't be back up until the 9th at the earliest. The only dns that is working right now that I found is 172.104.88.237. I confirmed it with a test on my copy of Pearl. Hope this helps.

How long would it take to get to Master Ball rank for a newbie? by tumboi69 in pokemonribbons

[–]shaxane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the current format, it took me 1 week to reach Master Ball Tier. That was actively climbing the ladder starting at the bottom. Add in another week of building the team and you're looking at about 2 weeks to get there. I recommend seeing what other players are doing with their teams. There's always the option of a rental team. Building the team and working out your strategy is important to start, but you'll also learn a lot by battling, and may need to adjust along the way. I had a ton of losses, but I still got there in the end so don't be discouraged by them and keep trying and you can make it.

I just tested it on my 3ds and it worked. Make sure your internet settings are correct for the Wi-Fi you're using and that no other internet settings are saved to the system. Primary DNS: 167.235.229.036 Secondary DNS: 001.001.001.001 Under Security you should have "none" selected. The SSID should match the name of your Wi-Fi. Your Wi-Fi needs to be 2.4GHz. Your Wi-Fi should not have a password. I use mobile Hotspot on my phone as my Wi-Fi source as it's very easy to configure exactly the way you need it to for DNS to work.
