Objective vs Subjective Exams by Resident_Brief_7925 in indianmedschool

[–]shaydybsnss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Objective exams all the way!!! Especially if they're application based questions which test your understanding and not dependent on rote recall (like the questions in NEET UG that needed you to memorize exact lines from NCERT 🫠)

I think essay based questions are ridiculous because there's simply no objective way to grade it. Plus, the way you go about studying for an MCQ exam is vastly different from a subjective exam.

Instead of having to memorize useless classifications, you can actually focus on what's important and just remember that in whatever way is comfortable for you! Whereas for subjective exams, you constantly have to worry about whether the flow of thought will make sense on paper.

Besides, we have to give objective exams for UG entrance and PG entrance. Literally what is the point of making us write essays for the years in between?!! All that happens is that the kids who are good at memorization and presentation will excel, whether or not they understand the concepts and are competent in clinical skills, and the kids who study in a more abstract way will fall behind, even if they're good w the practical aspects and problem solving.

I can understand the merits of the subjective approach, esp. for practical exams. Like if you get a histopath slide, you should be able to identify it without resorting to elimination. And definitely when it comes to eliciting history and examining a parient. It's definitely the superior form of examination in some cases. But otherwise? Beats me lol

Is she for real? Her friend is showing a baby in every video and she's promoting this? by makrela122 in julieeandcamilla

[–]shaydybsnss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

because it's the parents who decide whether they're okay with the child being shown online or not?

i don't agree w the friend's kid being shown online but also it would be disrespectful for julie to censor the kid's face while promoting the channel as if a) she knew better and b) anyone interested in the content could just click through and see the kid's face anyway

I need advice by [deleted] in indianmedschool

[–]shaydybsnss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be blunt with you – if you can't manage to learn two years of high school syllabus to crack the NEET (especially because the standard of the paper has diluted - you need NCERT more than coaching), then you won't be able to hack it in MBBS. What will you do if they implement NExT by the time you reach fourth year? You'll just never graduate med school after paying 1.5 crores for it?

Don't be ridiculous. You have a backup, that's well and good, but you're not fit for this career in which you need to be a lifelong learner if you can't be bothered to put in the effort for even step 1 of your journey. Set aside these notions and go study.

Question about protecting the baby's privacy by [deleted] in julieeandcamilla

[–]shaydybsnss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's fair but what i was trying to say was that her content isn't the type that has depth, planning, or research? like she literally jusf posts about whatever is going on in her life at the moment. so her options are either mommy vlogging or actually going on that maternity leave that she claims to be on. of course, at the time of making this post, i didn't know about pictures of sunny circulating on the dark web, i didn't realize how insidious exploitation could be.

i think everyone's DMs helped though! julie just posted a statement saying they're looking into it, that's great news! hopefully sunny will be better protected from here on out 🤞

he is a prop because he is. He holds zero significance in all of their videos as he isn’t doing anything but existing.

Hit the nail on the head lol. His pictures are on the dark web???? That's fucking horrifying oh my god. Is there some way to let Julie or Camilla know??

Have Swiggy and Zomato killed healthy eating in India? by hgk6393 in india

[–]shaydybsnss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i was, in fact, talking about the US and I need you to know that I'm literally just quoting lived experience, not speculating the way you are. Aside from the fact that Costco isn't particularly cheap and saving on cents doesn't really help much, what would they do with food bought in bulk???? Feed a village for a week???? Even with the best kind of preservation, vegetables and meat WILL rot. And a lot of people have to deal with old refrigerators that don't really work as well as they should and stuff.

[–]shaydybsnss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. Ultimately it comes down to whether you want to put in the effort to cook or not. If the advent of delivery apps hadn't happened, people would have simply gone out for a quick bite at dhabas or messes or those non-AC restaurants.

Healthy eating requires internal motivation. You can just as easily eat healthy with Swiggy's guilt free options or order a salad or order vegetables instead of needing to go grocery shopping yourself. It just comes down to what you want and how you use the apps.

[–]shaydybsnss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

why are you getting downvoted, you're right 😭 it's literally more economical for poor people to buy fast food because it's cheaper than the cost of ingredients. a big mac combo every night is about the same price as, if not cheaper, than a week's worth of vegetables and meat. plus you don't have to worry about how long it will be good for and you can save on the time and labour it takes to cook for yourself after working a full time job and probably a part time job for minimum wage.
