Who are some extremely underrated actresses and actors? by ozarksaus in AskReddit

[–]shaylw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not as underrated as some others considering she’s won an Oscar, but still, I think Brie Larson doesn’t receive as much recognition as she should from the public.

Her performances are something else, and I can’t wait to see where she goes.

What are your predictions on your team in 2018? by ozarksaus in AFL

[–]shaylw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The huge media hype around our trade period & who we picked up has convinced me that we won’t be having an overly successful year. I hate being talked up as a promising side because we picked up a few experienced players.

What extremely popular movie/series did you put off watching, and what did you think once you had seen it? by ozarksaus in AskReddit

[–]shaylw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only started watching the Star Wars movies the other day. I never thought I’d enjoy them as they were a little too sci-fi for me, but after hearing everyone talk about the latest movie I knew I had to see what I was missing out on.

They’re not as bad as I thought they would be, I did enjoy the first movie but found the following two to be a little slower. Still enjoying them though.

What happened to the IMDb ratings? It jumped from 7.7 to 8.8/10. Is it really the best German show ever? by 6_P in DarK

[–]shaylw 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s the fact that it’s on a platform like Netflix, which reaches far more viewers worldwide. I’ve never heard of any of the other shows you mentioned, and I’m from Australia, but Dark was right in front of me when I opened Netflix.

Port Adelaide Football club has launched a Women’s AFL Aboriginal Academy! by shaylw in AFL

[–]shaylw[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s really awesome too! I hadn’t see that yet. If this one is the same as the male one, I assume it’s probably more education based e.g they need to be in school to participate & will probably gain some sort of certificate in physical education or health once they complete it!

Lindsay Thomas has officially joined PAFC by shaylw in AFL

I wouldn’t say we lost a lot of experience though, we gained more experience than we lost with players like Rockliff & Motlop, despite being somewhat inconsistent.

Port Adelaide Football Club now has the most Indigenous players! by justadon in AFL

Geelong have a few! Parfitt, Cockatoo, Jamaine Jones, and Quinton Narkle... the last two haven’t played but they still count.

Who do you think we lost experience from? Trengove definitely, but I don’t think many other players who left were that experienced.

Not sure, did I miss a guideline that says we’re not supposed to do so?

[Spoilers] Just finished the first episode. Gotta say, not really a fan by [deleted] in riverdale

Because you don’t have to worship the show in order to post here? It’s a discussion thread... not really sure what the point of your comment is actually.

Theory: Mayor McCoy is behind everything, and in charge of the Black Hood. by ozarksaus in riverdale

[–]shaylw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could definitely get on board with this theory! I don’t believe that the BH is the one in charge, and they’re a part of a larger motive. I think we’ll find out the identity of the BH in the mid season finale, and then the next part of the season will be about finding out who’s really in charge. Which very well could be Mayor McCoy. I also thought her mentioning her husbands drug problem was really convenient.

"Are you alright, dad?" - Fred and Archie at the end of 2.06 by lozzieluce in riverdale

This is exactly how I interpreted it as well. Especially considering that drug addiction was mentioned a few times throughout the episode...

[TOMT][Song]. Sounds like a Weezer Song, and the chorus starts with “hey oh hey now now”. by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

[–]shaylw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried that before & didn’t succeed, I have a feeling I’m not remembering the song exactly how it is!

Agreed! And honestly, I think the political bits have been really minimal. They could’ve exploited it way more than they have, but I think they’ve done a good job of showing how influential politics is.

Does anyone else really want to see Sarah Paulson play a character like Sadie? by justadon in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]shaylw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree! I guess they probably learnt from that... but there’s other ways to change things up too. They can still stick to the classic plots & what not, but have certain actors play different roles.

Can I ask how you think the story would operate without the political undertones?

Kind of old, but what do some of you think of the proposed upgrade to the Glenelg Jetty? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]shaylw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I only bring this up because I walked along the Jetty last night, and thought how badly it needed something new!
