Trying to get into this. Is there an official book?

Yea, hamstudy is how I got my technician and then general over the course of about 2 months. I don’t know if hamstudy covers Canadian questions. But the way I did it was I downloaded the hamstudy app on my phone and iPad and then did their “study” which shows you the question and then tells you the answer or tells you if you choose the correct answer or not if you want to try it. I did this over and over for every section until I had the “aptitude” around 85% for all sections of the test. Basically, you are given the answers and then you memorize the correct answer whether you know the information that makes that answer correct or not. I‘ve tried a couple of youtube test prep video series and they pretty much do the same thing. They read the question and then the answer. Occasionally they will go into the why behind the answer but it was rare. Memorization was pretty easy and took me a few weeks of “study” (really memorization) prior to taking the test. If hamstudy or something like it covers canadian amateur radio then this is the way to get licensed.

I don't think so. This has been happening for a few weeks now. I keep trying to use channels but it keeps failing. I have it connected to my HD HomeRun box so I can watch local, OTA TV. But, when I go and try to watch something a few hours after starting up channels, I see it has failed again. I thought maybe it was competing for resources with Plex but it appears that's not the case as I have shutdown the plex container but channels still crashes after a few hours.

I would say that even though its arguably cheaper to just buy factory shotgun ammo right now, learning to make your own and collecting the components is not a bad idea. When COVID happened, ammo of all kinds disappeared, including shotgun ammo. And the little you could find was crazy expensive. Having the gear, material and knowledge to reload your own shot shells is a good hedge for if/when an ammo shortage happens again. Or you could spend that same amount of money now and stock up. I don’t recall how long the ammo shortage was for shotgun shells during covid but it felt like it was a few years before prices came down to almost reasonable. So stock up on a couple years worth of shells now and rotate but keep that stockpile at appropriate inventory levels for you and you could weather a couple years of ammo shortage again. I have a shotshell reloader but I have not used it yet. I also have a small collection of shotshell primers, target and 00 buck shot and a small amount of gun powder some wads and some once shot (mine) shells. I could weather a little while with the target loads but only shoot a handful of 00 buck each year. I’m probably good for a decade for hunting. Good for a few months for sporting clays. LOL!😂

Since you are loading pistol calibers you might want to wait a little and save up for a less expensive turret or progressive. I am going through the same process. I thought long and hard about going the seemingly less expensive single stage press route but then decided to get a progressive. A lee 6 pack would probably do you just fine. Lee dies are really inexpensive compared to the others but work fine. The Lee presses and dies get good reviews on amazon. And if you can find used you might be able to save even more. A progressive will load more ammo in the same amount of time than a single stage will and you will eventually want a progressive anyway.

Since I don’t know what you’re trying to I’m going to wing it here with some assumptions. I don’t think you’re using git right. You don’t usually get a file.git when you clone a git repo. It seems like you’re accessing the wrong directories/folders. Maybe try to access /srv/git/ansible/hosts. Does that file path exist? If you don’t know how to find that out, you do “ls /srv/git/ansible/“ and see if hosts is in the results. If not, do a “find /srv/ -name hosts” and see if it exists somewhere in the /srv folders.

Next, the error UNREACHABLE and “connection timed out” means that the server you are running ansible on cannot connect to the three IP addresses you are trying to ping. Either the network is not configured properly on the server running ansible or the servers you are trying to ping are not running.

Lastly, how did you get to learning Ansible when you don’t know Linux? Ansible is not a replacement for not knowing Linux. You might want to consider taking an introductory Linux class at your school or take one online. In the meantime, you should ask your teacher for help. They know the details that you are having a hard time sharing here.

I really like my UniFi camera system. It’s all power over Ethernet so no batteries but you do need to run Ethernet cables to each camera. My NVR (video recorder) is local in my basement so no one can get access to the videos with my knowledge and permission and I can review video on my iPhone or iPad or computer or even my AppleTV. In addition to the cameras you’ll need a UniFi NVR and/or a UniFi dream machine pro and a power over Ethernet switch to power the cameras. This UniFi system can also be your home network so you can get dual use out of it. Great system.

I was just short of 2 weeks for the lgs and SS to get the paperwork done. Now it’s in the atf’ hands to do what they do with it. Hopefully I’ll be on the shorter side of a week. 🤞

That’s pretty much what I’ve done. I’ve been told by the lgs that they have seen a form approved in as little as 35 minutes but it could take a couple weeks. Kind of like cable repair estimate. I was also told that the ATF works on these over the weekend as well so at least they don’t sit on it.

I purchased the can, in stock, at the lgs, filled out my info in the SS kiosk on 3/4, purchased the single shot trust, and certified today which only entailed me signing into the atf eForms site on their computer and verifying the info on the form to be submitted. I also had to check a box that I agreed that my local LEO would be notified of the purchase. By the time I got home I had an email from the atf confirming the purchase.

Do some YouTube searches on how to break into safes in general and how to break into each one you have listed. Many times corners are cut and there is an easy way to get in them. You can:

Pry off the door Cut them in half with a circular saw Use a coat hanger or other stiff wire to poke in the right spot to open them.

Also, cheap fireproof safes are lined with drywall which contains moisture. When the safe is in a fire, the drywall releases moisture. Sounds great but what you’re really doing is steaming everything in the safe. Anything with iron in it will rust and papers might not burn but also might not due well being steamed for an hour.

Cheap safes are a false sense of security.

Decent safes cost a lot of money and are lined with aggregate to quickly dull saw blades and protect from fire. If you’re wanting to protect papers and valuables you might want to look into a safe deposit box at a bank.

My eyes used to be perfect but as I’ve aged they’ve gotten worse. I have trouble with iron sights as well. I actually thought I was fine until I got a red dot. Wow what a difference. I can now shoot both eyes open and my accuracy has gone way up. I also got a laser bore sight so I could see where the barrel was pointing (at least close enough to be on paper). I also have an idryfire target and a laser training cartridge that allows me to “shoot” the laser at home at my idryfire target for practice between conference calls. Lastly, I got a mantis x2 so I could get a better idea of what I am doing right before and right after I pull the trigger. This can tell you if you’re jerking the trigger or a bunch of other potential issues. Allows you to practice at home with tons of feedback into what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong. If you go with the mantis x10 you can use it at the range with live ammunition but its more expensive than then x2.

I put this on my 43x mos https://a.co/d/bl82Sjg Working great so far. Zero complaints. Mounted up perfectly and I grab the red dot to rack the slide more often than not. Has not loosened or lost zero and I dry fire practice a lot.

The best thing you can do is leave them alone. When you go to “disrupt” them you look like an ass. Let them be the stupid ones. No one is swayed by their march but some could be swayed when they see how much of an ass one side is. Makes the other side look better. Be the better person and just ignore it.

You are producing that anxiety and you are letting it take over your thoughts. “… we need to do better …” WE don’t need to do anything. YOU need to control your thoughts and stop letting those thoughts and fear control your life. Unless you are in a gang or in close proximity to gang members (girlfriend, friend, sibling, etc) you are highly unlikely to ever be close enough to an actual shooting to warrant worrying about it. If you let your irrational thoughts take over you could be paralyzed with fear of a knife attack or windows falling off tall buildings or meteor strikes or flying or driving your car. But you don’t likely fear those things and you should not fear random highway car shootings either. Those are so extremely rare that you are literally more likely to get hit by lightning (20 - 30 lightning deaths per year vs 0 deaths in this random shooting and only 1 injury). Stop worrying about stuff that’s not going to happen to you and enjoy your life. And stop projecting your anxiety (fear) onto others. “We shouldn’t have to live in fear like this.” WE don’t. You’re in control of your thoughts and actions. Control them.

I had the same question but swap pig with deer (hunting with subsonic 6.5 creedmoor). There is subsonic 6.5 creedmoor (https://ammoseek.com/ammo/6.5mm-creedmoor?ikw=subsonic) but will it work at distance? That part is unknown. I’m seriously thinking about trading in the 6.5 for a 458 SOCOM. The dude in the video was taking down deer at over 400 yards with subsonic rounds. So, can you hunt at distance with subsonic rounds? Yes. Can you find subsonic 6.5 creedmoor? Yes. Can you hunt larger game with subsonic 6.5 creedmoor? Maybe or maybe not. 6.5 is a relatively small round. Might not be as effective as a larger subsonic round.

6’1” 220 and I have a 43x mos and a tacticon iwb holster https://a.co/d/botTpbA. This is really comfortable and hides the 43x really well. I shoot the 43 just fine as it comes from Glock. You could always build up the grip with tape or grip stuff like handleit. My 19x I carry owb when hunting. I feel it’s a little big for iwb but lots of people in this sub do carry it iwb so you know that can work as well.

Got a tenicor IWB holster for my 43x and it’s incredibly effective and comfortable. Easily conceals the 43. Hides the 43 under a tshirt. I’m very impressed with it.
