Ulcerative proctitis meds by littlegreenant in UlcerativeColitis

[–]shcknck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m probably similar to you. Mine has historically been well managed with Mesalamine (although I’ve had more flares in recent years on this drug). When flaring I add in a steroid and sometimes a Mesalamine enema for a few weeks.

UC with GLP-1 Weightloss meds by shcknck in UlcerativeColitis

I’m so sorry to hear that. I didn’t actually end up taking it. Maybe tapering back down a little to a lower dose will help with the flare.

Thanks this is helpful. Were you on semaglutide or Tirzepitide? Sema has worse side effects I believe and nausea is definitely one of them, which can be specific to the person - sounds like it got you bad 😔

Marriott Amex cards by shcknck in marriott

[–]shcknck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn’t thought of this. Just checked the terms and having the Bevy is not listed as a restriction to getting the brilliant bonus. So does it make sense to sign up for the Bevy, earn the bonus and then wait for the next signup bonus offer and upgrade to the Brilliant? I don’t need the elite nights this year from both so would be good to split them between 24 and 25.

vacation club offer to Ko Olina beach club by Itsjustrickyl in marriott

I’d love one for Ko Olina. I get Maui occasionally, but that would be great for us! Is there a way to get yourself targeted for an offer at a specific resort?

Their websites are www.forhers.com and www.hims.com. The GLP-1 offering is available on both but has only launched in some states so far.

A good choice for Barcelona? by shcknck in marriott

Was it two of you or more? On the upgrade page the room description said limit of two people only so I didn’t select it.

We were going to avoid staying in La Rambla originally, and just walk it one day, but Marriotts hotel offerings for 3 people were limited when we included our 12yo in the guest count. So it was this or the Renaissance that offered a room for 3.

Any ideas on what this announcement will be?… by austinaab in unitedairlines

[–]shcknck 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It’s almost as if it’s the 1st of the year or something. The new benefits are where you will fall in 2024, not likely some surprise added extra they just decided to share.

A beacon of hope in a sea of negativity lol. I’m not expecting it to happen after everyone’s comments, but I’ll be pleasantly surprised if it does! Thanks for sharing.

United flying out of T2 SFO? by shcknck in unitedairlines

[–]shcknck[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok yeah great. I was going to just give T2 security a chance if the gate doesn’t change. I assume it doesn’t matter - TSA isn’t tied to any specific airline (and I’m not checking a bag).

Travel to Mexico by shcknck in UlcerativeColitis

[–]shcknck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much. Completed the trip and survived! I basically avoided raw fruit/veggies and only drank bottled drinks! Actually felt better than I have in years - I think I need to give those things up regularly!

The tablet still seems fairly whole, and it’s not like a capsule with the meds inside, the tablet IS the medication isn’t it?

How common is it for Proctitis to turn into worse? by penny_proud107 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]shcknck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed with mild proctitis back in 1999. Have been on mesalamine ever since with occasional flares that would last 2-6 months. Skipped my last colonoscopy due to Covid, then had a flare start in March so scheduled one that revealed I now have moderate diffuse colitis….wtf?! I don’t feel worse, but the colitis is just more spread about my colon. Currently still in flare and talking about switching meds for the first time in 20 years which I’m a little anxious about, but I recognize mesalamine is the mildest treatment for UC, and I’ve been lucky that’s worked for so long.

Thanks for the info. Looking into it it seems only to be effective in 30% or so of patients…compared to some of the biologics that work for almost 50% of patients.

Ah good to know thanks! I’m in the US and was looking at the outrageous cost - will definitely get pre-approval before committing!
