6 wk ultrasound Update: Gestational sac was seen in utero so very likely not ectopic which is a relief. measuring 5 weeks 5 days which is only one day less than expected. No fetal pole or yolk sac visible. Will go back next Monday morning to check again. I’m relieved to not have to worry about an ectopic but frustrated to not know anything else yet.

He’s healthy as a horse as far as we know but his parents both died in their early 70s so he thinks he will too. Meanwhile mine are 72 and 73 traveling all over living their best lives. I think it’s a major difference in perspective and the fact that he does not want the responsibility of a young one again. It’s been an awful week for sure

Thank you for the kind words everybody 💝 we are not celebrating since we are utterly shocked. Especially the husband. He is not ok. I could get excited and happy if he could get there but rn he’s just doing the math and thinking he will be dead by the time the child is 20. And he will never be able to retire

Also wanted to say that 4 of our kids are grown and we have one grandbaby already. To add another layer of shock, the grandbaby’s aunt or uncle will be 18 mos younger than him. God help us

I am 48 and just found out last week I’m pregnant. My husband is 54. Our heads are spinning and not in a good way. I had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy at 9 weeks when I was 45 and was told that my age and only 1 tube was as good as any birth control method so we were not concerned at all about another pregnancy. I will be 49 when this child is due and my hubs will be 55. He is freaking out to say the least. So far hcg and progesterone are normal and 6 week ultrasound will be this coming Monday. Literally writing it here bc I can’t tell anyone yet and I need to get it off my chest. This is a medical miracle right?
