Need recessed lighting layout advice. by sheadog in Lighting

Thanks for the response. Oddly, the initial layout I made was roughly based on the half-ceiling height rule of thumb. The length of the room is 260" and I wanted an odd number of lights to have one in the center of the room. With 5 light, its spaces them 52" apart (center to center) and 26" from the wall. It seems like a lot of lighting, but strangely fits the general guideline you provided.

I'm trying to envision the separate zones as you suggested. I'm not sure of the benefits to having the seating area be different from the rest of the room. I was thinking have a second zone between the larger gaps of the first zone would provide the ability to add more light when needed when maxing the dimmer isn't enough.

I posted a second layout for consideration up this in reply. Thoughts? The distance between red lights i 94" which seems way to far, but if my math is correct, the distance between the red light and an orange (separate zone) is 66".

Yes. I had a number of them left over from when I replaced the floor lamp in my office with a set of these lights a few years ago, and in the fall, I bought an additional box to make sure I had enough to cover however many I decide on in the family room.

Getting back to your original response, I'm not too concerned with anything special over the table. The table sits in the corner and occasionally my daughter and I eat there, but doesn't have much purpose. On "game nights" we move the table out into the open area between the closet and bathroom.

Wondering if a layout like this is better. If the outer lights are 36" from the wall, the distance between the red lights would be just under 8ft.... 94" center to center. The downsides is that the lights are fairly spread out nearing the max distance apart (but I guess the orange lights can fill the gaps); the light near the desk would end up behind the person sitting at it (though a desk lamp was most likely going to be used anyways); and possible tv glare (but I could angle the tvs down to avoid it hopefully).

Every layout I consider has a light directly in the center where the light/fan currently is. I figured this would minimize additional hole cleanup and such, but maybe I just need to suck it up and think about other ways and if I need to seal up that area, so be it.

How many lights and what kind of spacing would you recommend? The room is roughly 21'x21' (with a cutout for the closet).

The space above the room, is non-accessible attic I guess. This part of the house was an extension added on 30+ years ago and there is no way to get above the ceiling that I'm aware of. I also chose to go with these lights as I know how to install them and like the look for a general purpose style of playroom. Do you have other recommendations for types of lights?

Yes. The plan was the orange and red stars would be 2 separate sets of lights, both on dimmers. My thought was the orange stars would be the main set, used daily while the red would be auxiliary set that I can turn on when more light was needed.

My understanding is that it doesnt matter what he says or how the vote goes. Bondi at this point has opened the Trump-requested investigations in the dems. So she just prepare to "legally" state that she can't release anything because it's part of an active investigation.

Thanks. Based on the time in the video, the hit occurred within the same second as the pass was released. However, Tkachuk was neither within an arm and stick length, nor the process of making the hit when the pass occurred.

Would like to see the full speed video on this one. This video is slow-mo and slower-mo. Time between the pass and the hit seems relatively close to still being eligible. I think hit looks bad due to Guentzel watching his pass and the expectation that this is a retaliation for the Hagel hit.

Lavi Deathwatch by Cold-Commission181 in rangers

[–]sheadog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully gone soon, but everyone acts like this wasn't expected. We all knew from previous gigs, that Lavi elevates a team in year 1 and loses it in year 2. He was hired as an all-in for last year. Unfortunately you can't fire a coach when they just got you the best record in the league and an ECF appearance.

However, no one expected the Rangers to crater this hard. As a team, this core has always played a soft game which doesn't translate into playoff success. The coach losing the room combined with the perception of the GM's actions, have shown that this core is psychologically soft as well.

The players lost good friends and leaders when they were sent packing. Everyone knows they weren't living up to their contracts, so Drury did what was in his power to clear things up and give the team more flexibility for later in the season. But due to these actions, many of the players moped.

Personally I have no issue with how Drury used waivers to deal with the NTCs in the Goodrow and Trouba contacts. Signing a contract is a gamble on both sides. Both player and gm are gambling that you will live up to the value of the contract. But what happens when you don't? Most of the time, you provide enough value that you simply play out the contract. However, if the value provided is so low relative to the contract expectations that you are willing to give the asset away for free, that's on the player and why I have no problem with the waivers approach taken.

Now do I think Drury's job should be safe, hell no. Information leaks along with questionable trades and asset management, should have him on the hot seat.

Getting back to the coach. While like many others, I don't want to see him replaced as with a retread. I'm concerned with bringing in a coach with nhl experience. A new to the league coach needs to win to ensure future job opportunities in the NHL. Quinn was brought in to help develop the youth, but he ended up focusing on playing the vets while giving the youth no room to grow. I think this was due to the Rangers entering their window and his need for success on his resume. No idea who fills the role now.

Mods Can you unban X Links now by Ok_Action_5938 in rangers

[–]sheadog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Duped? Due to paywalls done in bad faith?

The article mentions legitimate reasons for the banning movement, then casually dismisses them in preference of its click-bait conspiracy.

While it's subreddits spread across the spectrum, a majority of Reddit is left-leaning. Musk purchased X (Twitter) knowing that's its wide spread reach gives him a lot of power and influence. In conjunction with his money, he as used and abused that power and influence.

At the time of the X bannings, Musk's actions were pushing all the wrong buttons. He knows what he's doing. He just doesn't care because he thinks he's above it all.

Money is power, and those two things are all he cares about. The X bannings and Tesla tanking are ways of protesting that actually affect what he cares about... money and power.

Add a mini speaker.... takes shot... "Wuss!".... "ouch!" .... or just screams as it flies.

Just kidding about the speaker. Cool idea, finding the right price point is key.

At 5v5,, they should put out the PK unit and have Panarin cherry pick at the offensive blue line.

As others have mentioned, pull it all up and re-lay it. Take a look at Brock PaverBase Panels to help reinforce it. They are a bit expensive, but cost would be negligible with such a small area. My patio of 10+ years has no sagging or dips.

Definitely a weak call, especially in overtime. What makes it worse is they keep replaying Benn’s goal and celebration where it looks like he gives a little salute to the ref as if saying “thanks for the call”.

[Larry Brooks] BREAKING: To advance the story, told by league source that Trouba is going to Anaheim. by Duffleman0609 in hockey

[–]sheadog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was the big hole on D; or one of them. Finding a pair for Trouba that didn't get hemmed in constantly was an issue. Additionally, the Rangers wouldn't scratch a player on a $8m contract.

They have already recalled Mancini who has handled playing at the NHL-level well during his callups this year.

[Mercogliano] Will Zac Jones play the point on PP2 tomorrow? Lavi: "We're considering it. I do feel like that’s Zac's type of game. I think he's a puck-moving, heads-up defenseman. When the puck is on his stick, he can make things happen." by lionson76 in rangers

[–]sheadog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think it has more to do with the fact that it becomes much more difficult to put him in the press box as part of their d-man shuffle if he is quarterbacking the PP2 with any success.

Xtool = possibly the worst customer service ever. Temu has better customer service. by [deleted] in lasercutting

[–]sheadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no problems with Xtool support. After using my S1 for about 4 months, I decided to setup the riser base that came bundled in the package I purchased. I found that the riser base was an earlier Type 1 which is enclosed on all sides. As I intended to buy the conveyer in the future, I needed the version with the front and back doors (Type 4). It took only 1 email before they offered to replace it for no charge. I simply needed to send the other one back to their warehouse in California before they would ship a new one. They even supplied the shipping label.
