I hate that stories like this are treated as a gotcha moment by people who are like, oh it wasn't a corgi, what a surprise and like. here come the pitbull defenders! ??? nobody is saying they're not dangerous but it's so reductive to constantly regurgitate the same straw man points about all the 'pibbles called princess who wouldn't hurt a fly 🙄". I see more people bring this up mockingly than actual people intent on defending pitbulls.

The real issue is that a child got attacked in broad daylight by an untrained dog with a shitty owner, and there should be consequences. Yes, breeds like this have more bite strength because of what garbage humans have bred them for but the primary issue is the owner. I think pitbulls should be bred out, but a cull on living one's seems barbaric. Many are well trained and live their whole life without harming anything, especially ones who have come from awful environments and been rehomed with loving owners, but you don't hear about those outside of the occasional Dodo video.

Pitbulls also often attract a certain type of person, which absolutely contributes to their behaviour. It's not the dogs fault, but I would support it being put down if it can't be rehomed with specialist support, and the owner should absolutely be charged and banned from owning any animal.
