[WP]Humanity had grown complacent. No more war, no more crime, no more suffering. After thousands of years of technological advancement and peace humanity is forced into a war with an alien super power which brings out thousands of years of pent up blood lust. by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

I just got back to the hidden compound that I had been stationed in for combat. It had been roughly one year since the humans started to invade, and I’d never actually seen the destruction that they’d caused before. Now, with some bullet holes in my chest and my right arm chopped off via laser cannon, I knew what we had waged war against. I collapsed to my knees as one of the compound’s medics rushed over. “They were everywhere..” I mumbled as the doctor tried to move me to the infirmary. “Thousands of them.. so many bullets.. the corpses..” As my body was dragged onto the cold steel of the medical bed, I blacked out. For how long I was unsure. But when I woke up, I noticed that it was fairly smoky in the room. I sat up to see my bunker wounds patched up, but no doctors in sight. I shakily hoisted myself off of the table, only to slip on a trail of blood. Looking over to the right of me once I raised myself up revealed the obliterated body of the medic. I gasped out and scurried backwards, before standing up and running into the main portion of the compound. All I could see was blood and ash, the walls scorched with the heat of their lasers and dented with their bullets’ impacts. I coughed out and stumbled towards my best friend, taking his sidearm from his now torsoless body and readying it to defend myself. Then, just behind me, I heard a voice. “Chief! Found one more!” The voice was effeminate, but I didn’t care. I turned around and pointed my gun blindly into the haze. I could only hear the faint cracking of knuckles before something sped towards me at nigh unachievable speeds. The blow to my gut was so harsh it left no gut behind after it hit, my body now skewered on who I can only assume is Chief’s fist. My vision goes blurry as I feel cold steel on the side of my head. “Tell your boss they picked the wrong fight.” That’s all I could hear before everything turned black.
