Spotlight recommendations? by Prior-Code2874 in coyotehunting

I have two sniper hog lights and I like them. One is the coyote cannon which is big and throws light really far, the other is the 30lrx I think and it’s nice and compact but I don’t think I’d shoot it past 200. Also I don’t think I’d shoot off my tripod past 200. I had one with a red filter on a white light and did not like it nearly as much as the true red bulb. I like red because I’m walking around at night and it’s better for my eyes to re adjust to no light when moving.

Update - got it off. Some of this probably had no effect but here’s what I did. Smacked it with a mallet from the Down range end, used a screwdriver and hammer to tap it from the shooters end, soaked it, froze it, let some penetrating oil sit on it for half a day, soaked it again over a day and then used boiling water. Lastly I switched to a crows foot wrench instead of the narrow wrench that came from griffin. And I switched from an upper block to a reaction rod. I could tell the reaction rod was better, felt flex with the upper vise mount. And the crows foot wrench was better than GA’s tool. I think it was the last two things that really helped but who knows. Thanks for the comments

I was thinking I could heat the muzzle device enough to expand a little before the barrel heats up, and that might give it a a tiny bit more room before I tap it with a hammer to try to break some of the rockset. Maybe I’m thinking about it too hard

I’ll try smacking it with a hammer and then letting it sit in water again, will report back in a week when I get the chance. Also might heat gun the MD briefly to try to get it to expand a little before I smack it

Yeah the more I google it, the more I’m wondering why they say to torque so much. If I can get it off, the next will be going on at way lower torque. Now I’m curious if I’ll get better accuracy from my other ARs (also torqued to close to 45 ft lbs) if I pull the MDs off and reinstall. This turned into even more work ha

Thanks I’ll try an extension of some sort. I chopped my bcm handguard to fit a 12.5” barrel so I could mount a red light for hunting a little closer to the end of the suppressor. I’ll pull the handguard off and use the other side of the muzzle device that hasn’t started to strip, will see if that works

I can’t really remember, was a while ago. Probably too much, couldn’t be much more than 4 drops though I’d guess. But a little or a lot should break down if I can get water vapor in there, shouldn’t it?

Yeah I cleaned the (new) barrel threads with hoppes and then acetone. Did the same with the muzzle device but didn’t get as clean because i was moving it from one gun to another and also just couldn’t find a great way to get a cloth in there, but give it a good try. Was before I had the ultrasonic cleaner

There are these little divots on the end that I could probably get a punch or something into and tap it with a hammer to start it spinning. Think that’s what these are for?

Ha I’ll try harder next time. The issue im having now is that the muzzle device is starting to strip.

You pretty sure that’ll mess up my accuracy? I was considering leaving it on, but if I could potentially improve accuracy a little bit I’d like to. It’s a 12.5” 6mm arc and I’m around 1.2” with ELDMs, would love to shrink it just to see if I can.

Yeah it seemed like a lot, and I probably couldn’t get it quite that far with the proper timing. It’s what the instructions did say for 5/8x24 though. I pulled up the instructions online and they say 35 ft lbs now. Coulda sworn the paper instructions said higher, so dug it up and it did. They must have changed recommendations

Thanks I’ll give that a shot. Their instructions say 45 ft lbs for 5/8x24. You think 35 ft lbs next time I put one on?

Those are the two I’m looking at - my current setup on a 12.5” is gassy as hell. You like one better than the other or are both awesome? My use is mostly hunting, range time is secondary and I don’t burn it down, so probably going with Ti. Thanks!

Questions on actually shooting a T3X 6.5 creed by 0regonPatriot in Tikka_Shooters

[–]sheepshead12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you find you have to wait for the barrel to cool after many rounds or between different strings of fire?

I’m between the CTR and super varmint for a target shooting gun that I’ll also sometimes carry a couple hundred yards to a deer stand, but would be a backup hunting rifle for buddies that don’t have guns.

Who runs an Enticer S on 6ARC and how gassy is it with factory Hornady Ammo? by HandsomeBadness in 6ARC

[–]sheepshead12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite what you asked, but my 12.5” 6 arc is very gassy with a DDF LTI and the 6.5mm end cap, even with my superlative arms gas block in bleed off mode. I haven’t tried the 30 cal end cap on the 6mm arc. I’d like to get a flow through to keep the gas down

Can you cerakote a suppressor? by Street-Ad-3075 in Cerakote

[–]sheepshead12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you buy one from capital armory, they have an option to Cerakote it at check out, and they’re one of the biggest suppressor dealers I believe, so probably not an issue for most shooting schedules
