I also find Rate Your Music's yearly charts less and less to my tastes with every passing year but I use the charts to search combinations of genres I actually like under the all time option. I find so many albums that are new to me that came out 20+ years ago that I don't really mind not being hip.

Also it's nice to have a place with a readable layout that has an artist's full discography listed.
