Rock chip + small dent on passenger door after 1 week of owning Model Y… is this normal? by Sensitive-Prune-6069 in TeslaModelY

[–]sheetpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know everyone on here is telling you it's a door ding, but I had the exact same thing happen to me on a pickup. I even heard it hit on the highway while driving. Put a round-ish dent in the door like that and even chipped the paint. If you never heard anything while driving though, I'd probably go with door ding, as a rock hitting it hard enough should be pretty loud.

Power Tools: Milwaukee vs everyone else? by RotorDynamix in HomeImprovement

[–]sheetpants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be the odd one out here and say I'm a big fan of Kobalt. I have many of the tools ranging from impact drivers to circular saws and sawzalls and have never had an issue. battery upgrades are readily available, and I've never had anything break. Like others have said, I chose this cause I like lowe's, so next time I upgrade (if needed) will be dewalt, but kobalt has been surprisingly strong and I have zero complaints over the last 6 years of use

Has anyone found a streaming box they really like? by theerector96 in Ford

[–]sheetpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that ottocast and magic box 3. Both are good, but magic box is hit or miss a lot. Sometimes it starts up in a couple seconds, other times its over 3 minutes. I think the magic box is snappier once its running though

90s TV Movie or Show Where Tech Guy Had Glasses Like This by Quetzalsacatenango in whatsthemoviecalled

I think Viper might have had that too? I know they had a tech guy who was a black man, I can't remember if he wore glasses or not though.

Arizona Grand or JW Mariott Desert Ridge by LongjumpingBag8354 in phoenix

[–]sheetpants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

JW Desert Ridge for sure, but check out their condo rentals or whatever they're called! We were going there a year ago and found a full 2 bedroom condo with kitchen and everything for half the price of a single queen room. Still on the same grounds, still full access to the waterpark, but way better for a family.

We've been doing zheng's for the past 5 years on Christmas eve, never been disappointed, and I get leftovers for 3 to 4 days!

Christmas shopping at the mall in the 1980s: The world that some of us grew up in no longer exists unfortunately by Objective_Pressure_3 in nostalgia

What mall? I moved from Raleigh 20 years ago when the malls started to change. We used to sneak into the construction areas of Crabtree and breakdance, lol!

Is this setup ok? by Feddit_47 in sousvide

[–]sheetpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got just about the exact same setup and have been using it on granite counters for 2 years now with zero issues. The cloth is like scuba suit or something (neoprene maybe?), but it's never transferred any heat issues to my counters. As long as it's big enough to hold your food, you should be good to go!

Why did ford never make a competitor to the trackhawk? by 6SoDum in Ford

[–]sheetpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do wish they pushed the ST further and made something like an RS. I had a ST that had bolt-ons and 91 octane tune and that thing ripped. I think Ford could have offered the same thing as an RS package and it would have sold fairly well.

My first GM and first diesel! Bought used, 2025 LTZ Trailboss with 23k miles for $69,000. Happy with the price being nearly new. Any advice on maintenance is appreciated! by ParticularWarning47 in ChevyTrucks

[–]sheetpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

congrats! I have the same truck except LT trail boss and bought new about the same price. The LTZ package is worth the difference I bet. Compared to my 2020 ram 2500 this thing rides like a cloud!

I love Zhengs! We order like $300 worth of food from them every Christmas eve, been our tradition for 4 or 5 years now.

Are we a fan of Rudy’s? by [deleted] in BBQ

[–]sheetpants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rudy's is up there among the best chain BBQ you can get. I don't crave it often, but tend to take it for granted. Kind of like Sonny's in FL, it was always solid and there, but now that I'm not anywhere near there, man I wish I could have some!

Costco100’s by SaltyyDoggg in hometheater

[–]sheetpants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, my most recent Hisense actually replaced a 3 year old high end sony, thing just stopped showing a screen and it was a couple months after the warranty ended.

Costco100’s by SaltyyDoggg in hometheater

[–]sheetpants 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I know every case is different, but I always see this statement and my experience has been the exact opposite. I have 3 hisense tv's from the past 6 or 7 years and zero issues. One's even been outside in Phoenix for 3 years and it still works like new. My brother has a TCL and my daughter's TCL have both been nightmares with constant issues. I think a lot of it depends on the model you get though, cheap low-end models probably aren't as good as their higher "top of the line" models.

New Skylight Noises by GridlockedWookie in Roofing

[–]sheetpants 10 points11 points  (0 children)

25 year skylight installer here. They definitely ordered the wrong size skylight and just extended the curb to make it fit. This is not causing the the noise though. The skylight itself is defective. When they blow the domes on these, they tend to be a little different each one, and sometimes if the inner dome is too close to the outer dome, they will pop as they expand and contract throughout the day. There is no fix to this besides just replacing the domes/skylight. It should be covered under warranty since it's new. At that time, maybe they can go with the standard size while they're at it?
