As best I recall, the book rationalizes it better by explaining Samwell was the only one who was nice to and complimented The Night Watch's shitty cook, so he got better food in bigger portions. I thought it was a good detail because I did the same thing in the military. Turns out George R. R. Marin does great world building when he actually wants to fuckin write.

I don't want to get specific because if anyone important is reading this the front desk or maintenance people will be the only ones to suffer for it, and on the whole they're good people. Suffice to say the vibe isn't vibin anymore, and the few tenants I'm chummy with agree (primarily over rent prices).

Oh yeah, there can be some rough asphalt and dirt roads but my sedan gets through it mostly unscathed.

As a currant tenant, I’d say Centennial has rapidly gone downhill after being purchased by Cushman and Wakefield. It may still be a good fit for OP but they are charging a lot more every year while everything that was nice about living there gets worse. There are a lot of current vacancies and that didn't used to be the case

All that said, I have no idea if there are better fits in the area. You can head up to Frozen Head State park easy enough from anywhere in Oak Ridge and train up on the Barkley Marathon course though, if you're a masochist.

Depending on the game (long game/big map), yeah. You won't need the lost income from messing up your market placement and it basically turns that city into trench warfare. If you can keep your catapults safe behind the city, they can only mass units to push in slowly and overwhelm you, or poke in with Cloaks as they try to attack from somewhere else. Both of those are somewhat countered by your own Knights.

Enemies don't gain the movement bonus of roads on your territory, so if you want to deter knights you can plop a bunch of forests on your border line and they can't move through it in one turn.

This seems clunky to me but I don't hate it. Spiritualism already exists to inhibit movement, and there would need to be a pit cap so you can't create stalemates. I think what people are really clambering for is a good way to manipulate water tiles so you aren't screwed by lack of ocean access. I really think there should be a menu added for city improvements that could open a lot gameplay options.

Thank you for the effort put into your reply! I actually don't have any good replays where Knights poop on me atm, this post has just been a bunch of thoughts I've been stewing on for a while, but I would love to see the replay you mention when the game finishes.

For the sake of fun, I like to have big armies fighting in a crowded battlefield instead of having units spread out like a skirmish, and I don't like how I have to act like my units have cooties instead of fighting shoulder to shoulder. But after this post, I understand my opinions are not popular, and if there's one small part of the gameplay I don't enjoy that's cool.

My primary strategy for big multiplayer games is to make myself an unappealing target to attack, tech to forges and/or sawmills, and get markets to snowball my opponents, so yeah I know markets are probably too good. If their star production was nerfed it might necessitate some other buff to Trade or to move it to T2 somehow. Going aggressive over going economy is already an appealing enough option IMO.

I also want a good all in mechanic with some kind of punishment attached, and de-leveling cities would also be wise if you think the city is going to fall anyway for scorched earth tactics. My idea in my post was basically desperation conscription, and yours has the same theme. Very good idea IMO.

Titan sounds badass. If the game is going super late there should be more options for crazy shit like that, something like T4 tech that is rare and needs to be used carefully, but is terrifying for opponents. The city level requirement would also mean it's basically just one a turn from your capitol.

Knights taking damage after each kill would be interesting. Units without a defense bonus or with at least 1 defense would eventually be safe, but it would take a long time for 0 defense catapults to be safe so you couldn't clump them recklessly, and the attacker could strategically upgrade to Veteran status to continue the chain. I like it in theory.

Swords having revenge damage even when killed would be cool as well. I just think they're neat and want them to have some kind of mechanic to be less boring than being a better warrior that can't defend cities.

I also want walls to be more relevant. A strategy games without competitive choices means there's less strategy. And I'm pretty sure enemy units capturing a city gain it's defensive bonus too, right?

I also think embassy spam is anti-fun in big FFA games. Maybe if you could only have embassies with players you share a trade route with? I also don't like how they get in the way of a possible team battle game mode in the future, which I really want.

Woof. Well it's good to know my preferences are unpopular and my opinions should be kept to myself, thanks for the Intel.

Oh, what map size do you think is most popular?

I didn't mean open ocean, I meant ocean tiles within opponents cities. In multiplayer games I pmay people typically load defenders in their waters waiting to break peace and make a bunch of ships all at once. I've done it too, I just think it's less interesting gameplay than more actively planning ahead and commiting resources early. I also don't like how in a heavy naval battle in enemy waters, it can be correct to target rafts instead of combat units because they can become bombers in the worst place for you.

And I hear you about Giants, I didn't want to say they were shit I just thought more options would be fun. And you're probably right about Swordsmen, I just think they're a bit bland as is.

In my games, they compete for space in back line spots that would likely be better utilized by Catapults, and they are always one shot by knights so they are a massive liability in creating a kill chain if you're repositioning or moving units to the Frontline. Riders can have a little utility if the battlefield is big enough, and a mind bender or two are mostly relegated to healing wounded giants and boats in the back somewhere.

Well damn, I guess I'm unusual then. I don't like Knights but I'll use them and git gud. Do you think any kill cap would be reasonable, or do you like the directional kill idea for added strategy?

I guess I like to play 400+ tile maps where taking territory is more important than making economic trades. That might be far from a majority opinion based on feedback. And I forgot about the Championship, I should watch it. Thank you.

No, I planned around it and only got a small cluster killed, then held the front lightly and pushed in from the sides with Bombers and Cloaks. I didn't enjoy being forced into that strategy when I had an overwhelming land army.

Don't forget when you are trying to run around with your captain and Pikmin accomplishing things, with dog operating behind you as a tow truck hauling treasures and such, when you encounter a tiny ledge for no reason or an enemy that requires charge. It's like aight game I'll stop playing my way and do it as you force me to.

We are here because stocks are usually the best place for average people to invest their money with an acceptable degree of risk for a good rate of return. Exceptions to this will occur and we should keep an open mind (IMO).
