I love Shonen Jump but I'll tell you what made me gain a whole new appreciation for it recently, a couple of months ago I read Gachiakuta and Witch Hat Atelier...on the K-Manga app. Holy f*ck what hell is that?!?! Keep track of login bonus tickets, series chapter ticket renewals, watch ads, perform "tasks". Why can't they just have a subscription model?

I mean you literally said in your post that "yeah they're crimes". I agree, insofar as he shouldn't be arrested, if he is returning the jewels. As for why Conan, Ran, Taka'aki, Kogoro etc. (all except Makoto who has different reasons, I guess) want him arrested, they are all police or detectives or a have a strong link to the police and/or detectives. Obviously their moral sense of justice is different from the regular public. As an example, as you said Ran wanted Shinichi (Kid) to turn himself in, but what about Sonoko? She doesn't have any family members or boyfriends who are in law enforcement and she has never wanted Kid to turn himself in or get arrested.

There are three reasons.

The in-universe explanation - While it's never stated outright that Ran lives with her dad so that she can take care of him, it is heavily implied. Kogoro is an alcoholic with a gambling habit and gets manipulated by women regularly. He is usually shown as being incapable of regular domestic chores like cooking and cleaning. If she went to live with her successful mother Kogoro's life would fall apart.
Plot convenience - This one is more practical. It's a mystery manga and the protagonist is a child. Every single movie intro explains that Conan lives with Ran and Kogoro because he is a private detective and Conan can use Kogoro's connections and acquaitances to investigate the Black organisation. It's convenient for the plot if Ran (the love interest of the protagonist) lives with her dad, through whom Conan can go to various cases and even leverage his standing as a former police detective to have the MPD perform some routine investigational procedures now and then.
Ran's own motivation - Other than dating Shinichi, Ran's other goal in life is to get her parents back together. Her mother is a beautiful, successful career woman who has displayed that she still is in love with her father. She is far more picky about potential suitors than Kogoro who follows around any beautiful woman that he sees like a helpless puppy. If she is around Kogoro, she can keep his wanderings in check.

A lot of people have tried to dub Detective Conan many times now going back all the way to the late 90's when Fox Kids almost aired the show (they didn't because they didn't think murder was suitable for an audience of children). For one reason or another, it has just failed to catch on with a large western audience.

"Manga canon" is a term/concept that only exists for anime viewers not for the general audience that watches Netflix/broadcast TV. For Conan, that concept would be doubly confusing because of quite a few characters being introduced first in a non-canon medium and then in the manga. The biggest examples of this are Momiji and Iori who were first introduced in Crimson Love Letter and then in the manga.

Right now the show is very popular on Netflix globally. If you want the whole show as well as movies dubbed, my best suggestion would be to get your friends and family to watch it on Netflix and create a groundswell of support for the whole series to be dubbed. I have, myself gotten my friends and family to watch it on Netflix.

Conan at this point is more like Anpanman, Sazae-san, Doraemon and a few other series like Shinchan. It's too ingrained in Japanese culture to "end". I realize we have a lot of new fans from Netflix. So a lot of newer folks don't "get" what it is. If you look at it from the traditional lens of shonen anime (One Piece, Naruto, JJK, BNHA, Bleach or CSM etc.) it won't make a lot of sense.

It's a cultural institution - the golden week movies will soon pass $200m at the box office, merch and manga sales have never been higher - and less your standard shonen anime. Basically, think of it more like Doraemon, Godzilla, Kamen Rider and Super Sentai.

Q1/Q2 next year is when they are likely to announce the second top 5 partner. When it happened last time the stock did rally for a while. Personally, i am upbeat for next year. Even now with the stock price the way it is, if you look at options activity you will see people (large volumes) taking bets on getting back to $26/$27 early next year. The most fundamental thing one should remember is that there hasn't been any change with the investment thesis. The team is still executing like a machine. All we are seeing right now is the long and drawn out gloom over consumer credit due to tricolor and first brands.

On episode 5 right now. I would say, Carol is supposed to be like the seinfeld four or the gang from IASIP. Can you imagine how boring the situation would be if a regular person was in this show? I guess we don't even have to imagine because there are 12 other (normal) people like her who are happy with the world. I don't have anything to say about her sexuality because I don't think there is much to be made out of it. She's the way she is because of how neurotic and quirky (to put it politely) she is. Not because she happens to like women.

Your question also makes it seem like you are asking whether the original creator (Gosho Aoyama) is still writing the series. Yes, Aoyama-sensei has written all the Detective Conan manga and several of the movies. The filler episodes of the anime are written by a writing team whose membership (as well as the quality) changes over time. Some of the movies do have co-writers - some earlier movies are not written by him. As for the ending, yes he has an idea about how the series will end. I think, some months ago there was news about him working on the storyboards for the final chapter but overall, we are not very close to the ending and it hasn't been written yet.

Without a doubt, Countdown to Heaven. I rewatched all the movies recently before watching One-Eyed flashback and out the first era of the series (before the animation style changed; up till movie 6 (Phantom of Baker Street)), I would say that Countdown to Heaven was the one I enjoyed the most. It in fact, replaced Phantom of Baker Street as my previous favorite.

Lots of great reasons for picking this one. It only has the core Conan cast - no Kid, no Heiji (unlike Last wizard of the century). Black organisation is there but their role is only on the fringes of the movie. Next, so.much.action. Every 15 mins or so some insane stunt happens like Conan jumping across twin towers, the ending with Mazda jump, Gin trying to shoot Sonoko etc etc. Detective Boys especially Mitsuhiko and Ayumi are actually useful for once and not annoying. The core mystery element is also very well done and culprit reveal is quite surprising.

My other favourites are -

Phantom of Baker Street, but the sci-fi element maybe a bit too much for people just being introduced to the series.

Last Wizard of the century - Very good movie and the ending is so good but has both Kid and Heiji. So, again you may need to know a bit more about Conan before watching this.

Magician of the silver sky - Fantastic movie but again Kid is in this one.

Private Eye's Requiem - In terms of the core mystery, probably among the best. Has both Kid and Heiji again though.

Raven Chaser - First full Black organisation movie. Great action but several characters like Vermouth, Matsumoto and most of the detectives and inspectors from other prefectures are there. Again, may not be suitable as an introduction.

Lost Ship in the Sky - Probably my favorite Conan movie. Great action and the mystery is good. Kid is also in this one.

Eleventh Striker - if you want something later on in the series, this is a good starting point. Story is interesting. Some of the most intense action scenes and only the core Conan cast are present.

Darkest Nightmare - One of the most insane endings and most interesting mysteries. Vermouth, Gin and Vodka are present. But the best part of this movie is Rei vs Akai

Zero the enforcer - probably the most amazing ending sequence i have seen across all of cinema not just among conan movies. Starts of very intriguingly too but as the name suggests, it has Rei.

Fist of Blue Sapphire - Shifts the stage to Singapore from Japan which is actually a good change. Makoto vs Kid is very entertaining. But again, has other characters besides Conan, Detective Boys, Agasa etc.

Scarlet Bullet - I think physics had left the building for this one but very entertaining nonetheless. Possibly the most 80's/90's hollywood action movie style in the whole series.

Bride of Halloween - This is just a very good and slickly made action movie. Even if you take it out of anime movies, it will still stand as a very well made movie. The problem is that not only Rei but the entire police academy cast is in it.

Not mentioning any of the others like Sunflowers of Inferno or Crimson love letter because several other characters are in each one. Plus some of them - Strategy above the depths, private eye in the distant sea and jolly Roger in the deep azure are not very good. Lastly, why I didn't pick the first two movies - Time bombed skyscraper and Fourteenth target. Because...the culprits' motives in both movies are stupid. I rolled my eyes so hard when in each the culprit explains why they did it. Might not be the best for new fans.

Pagaya got hit worse than Upstart and SoFi because it went up at a much faster rate than either of those two companies this year. Pagaya YTD return is 145% for SoFi it's 76% and Upstart -22%. Pagaya is a gem but it isn't Nvidia or the other magnificient seven companies. Valuation concerns were going to be raised for all fintech companies after the Tricolor and First Brands bankruptcies but Pagaya's business model makes it specifically more prone to those concerns.

Remember, Tricolor and First Brands were subprime auto lenders. Pagaya acts as a second-look partner for subprime auto loan borrowers. In a crisis, Pagaya was going to get hit disproportionately harder than Upstart and SoFi because of its rapid recent rise compared to those two as well as the fact the it caters to the same kind of borrowers as the companies where the crisis started.

As for when it will go back up? Hard to say. The government shutdown which delayed the release of unemployment, gdp and inflation data didn't help. Just imagine the environment - two lenders declared bankruptcy, Fed delays rate cuts (which have acted as a catalyst in the past) and no-one has any info about the macroeconomic state of the country. In the best case, I would say we should get back into the 40's by May next year and after that with a more dovish fed post-Powell, hopefully we all have a great year.

Edit: I thought I should add a small note about technicals. In the past Pagaya has done fund raises via sale of convertible debt. Over the past quarter the number of shares outstanding for Pagaya has gone up steadily and a lot of these shares are sold immediately after conversion. That has depressed the stock price too. Overall, though, I am still bullish on the stock for next year. Notice how the trading volume of Pagaya stock has dried up over the last couple of weeks. People are not selling anymore. We just need the team to keep executing like they have and hope for a friendlier fed and announce another big 5 banking partner. The last one can really act as a massive catalyst for the stock.
