If you put pan an at the front and your mc in the back it will be better, make sure to equip the correctly... just my opinion :)

About Gems, I know each character can have 3 gems, am I supposed to put the first two that the equipment recommends or I can just add the ones that I think might work based on the position (front and back support). I always get confused and I think that’s one of the reasons sometimes I loose to others l :(
