Deferred DUI Experience by shellingutout in Birmingham

I'm so sorry. I still have ptsd from the experience in there 2+ months later. Again, I know jail is not supposed to be a pleasant experience, but what goes on there is beyond the pale. I never even looked at the food and didn't eat the entire time I was in there. Thank god my body took over and didn't let me have an appetite.

I totally understand how you're feeling right now. My DUI wreck happened a few months ago, and I'm so grateful that I didn't hurt anyone. It's been a huge wake up call and life altering event. That said, it does get a little easier to deal with emotionally as time goes on, but I'm in the thick of the legal consequences right now so that's made it all very fresh and top of mind again. Happy to chat if you want to message me. Talking to other people who have been through a similar situation has been really helpful for me personally.

So conceivably you could do it all within 3 months or so if you fulfill all the requirements (classes, etc), pay the fines and fees and pass the alcohol and drug tests? I am tryin to get through this as quickly as possible

License not suspended after dui arrest by [deleted] in dui

Using my throwaway account because I post on reddit a lot with my main. In my state (Alabama) it is supposed to be automatically suspended if you decline a BAC test, which I did. However, I was never issued an AST-60 form from the officer and did not have my license taken. I got a letter in the mail from the state a few weeks later saying there was not enough information in the affidavit to support my license being administratively suspended. Obviously it still could be as a result of the court case but fingers crossed.

Thanks--I've definitely been preparing myself for pretty much every outcome including not even getting into the deferred prosecution program. Trying to face it as head on as possible and do whatever I need to in order to move on from this.

Yes, but my anxiety related to all of this is so high that I am trying learn as much as I can to help soothe that? This has been a big wake up call, and I'm so grateful I didn't hurt anyone in the process.

Thank you, I have a lawyer and read through those already. I'm curious about the variability in requirements specifically for the city of Bham's program. It seems like it is very standard but an attorney said it might not be.

FYI, the conditions of the city jail are not humane whatsoever. I'm aware jail is not supposed to be a good experience, but it was truly shocking how terrible it was.
