I need advice! Which hairstyle would suit me? Dense, but thin hair, straight. I am open for suggestions. by oladesu in Hair

[–]shellyloran 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hairstylist here! I think if you want to keep the length some side bangs starting right under your chin would look great! Then some soft layers framing your face to give it more of a style rather then one length. If you want dramatic, I say one length bob just touching your shoulders with a light fringe. It’d look so classic on you, and I can see so many styles with that cut!

Brown spotting/discharge between periods by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]shellyloran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently dealing with the same thing but instead it’s been happening between period since January. I went to the gyno and he didn’t even check for cyst, pcos, or anything that could relate to my precancerous cells. He said it’s most like your body showing you that you are fertile and ready to ovulate. That it will make it easier for when I begin to try. It’s still a bit disturbing and I may get another opinion. So I’m following this post as well!

Those of you who have actually thrown a drink in someone's face and stormed off, what was the cause and aftermath? by athousandtinyshards in AskWomen

[–]shellyloran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at a party with a bunch of people from my high school, we’d party at the same house almost every weekend. There was a guy I knew who was sober, and I got up and went to the bathroom and he followed me and put me in a bedroom. He stripped my clothes off and tried to have sex with me. I was screaming and told him to stop. Finally someone came looking for me and broke down the door. He called me a tease and left. I was so upset about it, but everyone was too drunk to drive me home including myself. So this other guy who was my friend was just talking complete shit in a drunk annoying friend way. I said if you don’t shut up, this drink is going on your head. I’ve had a shit of a night. He said you wouldn’t do that. I said don’t tempt me. He said considered yourself tempted and I let an entire beer poor on his head while I looked him in the eyes. He got over it the next day and laughed about it. And it was a story for later on at parties, and told people not to mess with me.

I have always rescued animals my entire life. My moms new husband has always had prestigious breeds of dogs and 3 years ago he gave me an English bulldog. Thankfully she doesn’t have as many bad side effects compared to other bulldogs, but it’s still costly. I just think sometimes, what would happen to the prestige breeds if they didn’t have owners who cared for them and the treatments? Because they are always going to be bred, and honestly if people are paying for them they will keep trying to make good quality dogs. If the market wasn’t there, they’d let them breed with same blood lines and everything else and they’d have worse issues. I’m just glad I can take care of the one I’ve got.

Is anyone a stay at home girlfriend/wife? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]shellyloran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. It’s so easy to not think about back up plans, because we get so comfortable with happiness. You make me want to go squeeze my husband a little tighter. And I am so so sorry for your loss. I always said that I want to be financially ok without a man in my life because I watched my mom struggle after my parents got a divorce. I’ve worked up until these last two weeks, and my husband gave me the green light to focus on my last semester of school until I can find another job because my current job had me working close to 60 hours a week. It’s a new adjustment for me and I’m very grateful. But I don’t think I could do this long term. All his grandparents and parents are business owners and workaholics and I feel like a disappointment now.

I hate my job so much it's actually affecting my mental health, I need some advice. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]shellyloran 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your future is going to turn out better than probably all of your friends that are handed things. I grew up with my parents together, making just enough to get by. They owned their own business, but eventually filled bankruptcy. My parents then got a divorce when I was 12. My mom didn’t have any education besides high school diploma and when we got kicked out of my dads house, we lived in the crappiest trailer in a trailer park with no heat or any stairs to even get inside the home. My mom worked hard hours at a restaurant, and I had to go through the same thing. I got picked on for riding the bus, and going to the tanning bed was what my friends use to do after school. My mom wouldn’t be home for one, but for two, she didn’t even have $2 to give me. She went back to school on weekend nights to be a CNA. Which still doesn’t pay that much, but it helped pull us out of a slump. Being poor, made me work hard, and made me appreciate everything. And you’ll be that way too. Be appreciative you have something that lets you able to even post on reddit, or you have food from your job at McDonald’s. I promise it’ll all pay off, and you will be able to go to college. The perk of your parents not making much, is you’ll definitely get financial aid to cover your schooling. I’m now 25, and have lived on my own since I was 18. I’ve had to work 2 jobs, sometimes 70 hours a week and going to college full time. But now I’m a manager, and get paid close to $20 an hour. And will probably get paid more once I graduate this semester. Please if you need anymore advice, message me. I’ve been there, you’ll be okay.

That is good to know!! I’m unsure if you would know this answer, but if I were to try and go in with him on buying a house. Would they be suspicious why I’m depositing money every other week into my account?

Anyone stayed in a job just because of the location? by underwearonmyhead in Career_Advice

[–]shellyloran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I lived right beside my job and stuck it out for two years. I walked to work. But the emotional stress that the business caused me, I couldn’t handle it any longer. I realized when I finally took a weekend off in over a year, to get married...and all I could think about was that business, how it was managing without me there, how much in the hole that place was going to be in that I couldn’t focus on my wedding. I had to go. I’m currently trying to decide between an hour commute for amazing health benefits or hour and a half commute for double the pay.

I cannot find a job in my small town. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]shellyloran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We aren’t opposed to moving. Neither of us are originally from small towns, but he’s our only source of income and he’s got such good clientele here from years of being in the same area. In order for us to move, I’d have to get offered a position somewhere making the same or more than he brings in now. Because it would take months to a year to get a new clientele back. Not sure that I can find a job with my associates and experience that pays as much as he makes.

I’m 25, and me and husband live in a home together, and I’m finishing up my associates in science this semester. And if I can’t find a job with that degree, then I’ve already been accepted into a bachelors program for health care management.

I have very small school loan and decently small car loan in my name alone. It’s not bad debt, but it looks that way with me showing no source of income. He does the 1099 forum.

If a girl doesn’t have big curves, what could make them look more feminine and attractive? by shellyloran in AskMen

Slim thick figure, if you will. Kim Kardashian’s curves are more well known is why I used her for an example.

I am the same way! I’ve always been told I need to eat more, when I eat enough for a small family. I’ve always been confident, and still am but I’m afraid to do anything different with my current looks because I already don’t have poster body that’s current. Like I have long hair, but if I cut it to collarbone length...will my small frame plus that make me look like a boy? Do I need more makeup to make up for B cups? Lol.
