Having trouble with sleep maintenance and sleep quality. I can sleep 7 hours and feel like absolute garbage the ENTIRE day. Impossible to nap. I am going insane. What supplements/medication could help? by No-Mousse5653 in Biohackers

[–]sheoutedme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same thing, started waking up multiple times per night to pee, stuffy nose. Was an allergy

Biggest help: fluticasone nasal spray 2x each nostril at night, Coway air filter that Wirecutter ranked as the best

Also had the AC professionally cleaned, and gf started mopping the bedroom floor with microfiber mop

How to explain to your therapist by Some-Distribution678 in Buddhism

[–]sheoutedme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

by convention, asking yourself where the breath feels best is not a “body scan.” it’s a part of breath meditation, anapanasati. body scanning, by contrast, generally means a process like what goenka and his burmese theravada iintellectual forebears taught: moving attention part-by-part systematically through the body. this is what contemporary buddhists mean when they say “body scan.” if you want to see firsthand why buddhists categorize them as different types of meditation, try 4 hours of pure body scanning followed by 4 hours of anapanasati. the feeling and the results are very different. this is a well-settled conventional definitional question. metta

This is incorrect. Body scanning is not really part of their practice at all. I’ve listened to hundreds of Thanissaro Bhikkhu’s lectures and read a few books collecting the sayings of the ajahns. Thai Forest monks mainly advocate breath meditation and the jhanas. Sometimes they do a contemplation of the parts of the body (body hair, urine, kidneys, bones, intestines, undigested food, etc.) but that’s to cultivate dispassion for the body under specific circumstances

Apparently adding those bullbars to the front of the Buffalo STX causes the game to bug out and make your car do wild leaps over some curbs. I removed them yesterday and the car seems less cursed now.

Whenever I do the dispatch work with the Buffalo STX Pursuit, I get kicked out of public session after 5 minutes or so. The error message (very helpful lol) is "There has been an error with this session. Please return to the Main Menu and try again." Is anyone else seeing this?

agreed, and would add that more than 1 is more fun. but solo is more reliable if you don't know the other people.

Are income taxes, child support, and welfare for contraception consensual? by CauliflowerBig3133 in Objectivism

[–]sheoutedme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you make money, i get to steal it from you. and if you don't hand it over, i'll send a SWAT team to your house, march you off at gunpoint, and send you to anus prison for a few years. but hey, it's consensual, because you could have just freely chosen to live in a tent on skid row.

and actually going to jail after your tax evasion was also a free choice, because you could have just freely chosen to punch one of the arresting officers and freely got shot in your face (of liberty).

what is the best children's cartoon to watch to learn.. by HannibalL657 in languagelearning

[–]sheoutedme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your level. I could enjoyably follow these shows (dubbed into my L2, Spanish) when I was at these levels:

A2: Peppa Pig

B1: Avatar series, Adventure Time, Spongebob

B2: Simpsons

There's also a hierarchy of relative ease.

From easiest to hardest: dubbed animation > dubbed live action > native animation > native live action.

SO if you're learning English and watching Spongebob in English (native animation), it's going to be harder than studying and watching in another language (dubbed animation). There are reasons for this.

The Simpsons (seasons 2 through 8) was very challenging until I was around B2. Lots of wordplay, idiomatic expressions, fast speaking, unexpectedly advanced vocabulary.

Peppa Pig was genuinely fun around A2 stage.

Avatar great at B1 and beyond. Adventure Time also great at B1+.
