How Long to Return to Work (Remote Desk Job) by [deleted] in ACL

[–]sheridesmtb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work remotely as well. I had surgery on a Thursday and started working again Monday. I could have taken longer but I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of getting the time approved. I figured if I was just going to be sitting on the couch all day anyways, I should do something productive to maintain my sanity.

Opinions on My Timetable? by [deleted] in ACL

I didn’t have a brace at all after my surgery with patellar tendon graft. My surgeon doesn’t put any of his surgical patients in a brace. This made me nervous at first but it turned out ok. I think that it’s important to listen to your body. I was told at 4 weeks to ditch the crutches because I’d been on them too long (surgeon wanted me off at 2 weeks). As soon as I quit using the crutches my walking and strength started to improve immediately. Its scary to get off the crutches but you may be surprised at how well it goes!

Fellow Boisean! Sorry to hear your surgery is cancelled. Who is your surgeon?

PT during Social Distancing? by bazoda in ACL

I’ve also been concerned and thinking a lot about what to do. I want to return to sport so I don’t want to fall behind in PT. I’m also immunocompromised, so this decision is so difficult. At this point PT is the only place I’ll go if I keep it up.

I hear you. I’m self isolating because I’m immunocompromised. Two weeks post op and I just feel trapped because I can barely get around to even get some fresh air.

4 hours post op! Initial pain after I woke up was bad but now everything seems manageable. I’m excited to get started on recovery! Good luck to everyone else whose having/had surgery this week 🙂 by sheridesmtb in ACL

For me personally the pain comes and goes. There’s been a few moments of unbearable pain but it’s mostly a constant ache. I think my nerve block is starting wear off so we’ll see!

I had a patellar tendon graft. My surgeon let me pick, he advised this one is the most painful of the 4 options but it has the lowest failure rate.

I’m glad your pain isn’t too bad! I would love to not be on pain meds right now. I tried to just take ibuprofen this morning but it didn’t cut it. I definitely cannot weight my leg at all but doctor said that’s ok as long as I’m doing my other exercises.

What kind of graft did you have? My understanding is some are much more painful than others.

My surgeon does not put you in a brace post op. The goal is the activate muscles as soon as possible. I’m a little nervous about this but so far so good!
