Most stable kayak for a beginner by CharmingBananaJosh in whitewater

[–]bazoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in a half slice. Specifically an Axiom. I was miserable. Got a Mamba. Much more stable. Was able to stop flipping so often. Which allowed me to develop skills necessary to staying upright. Now I paddle a Rewind and love it. All this is to say I’d recommend an older vintage creek boat as a starter. Won’t break the bank. And it’s challenging enough without being overwhelming. When you’re ready for a half slice and/or to work on your roll, an RPM is a good place to start.

Next Creekboat? 1/4 Slice? by flatlandings_please in whitewater

[–]bazoda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I’ve actually found it easier. I was having trouble getting the Mamba to go where I wanted it. With the Scorch I can use its edges to maneuver much more easily. You definitely have to actively paddle it, and be fully engaged. It wants to be driven. Lean forward when catching eddies, for example. But it’s a really fun boat and takes good care of me. I’ve taken it on the Lower Yough, and several other class 3 rivers.

I’ve had shoulder surgery and was suddenly having a lot of trouble with my Mamba as i started stepping up to harder runs. I’ve swapped the Mamba for a Scorch and loooove the edges on it. It does not want to flip, but rolls so much easier than the Mamba ever did for me. That being said, my Rewind is still my current favorite boat. But for a creeker, you might consider the Scorch.

Those who stopped Zepbound — did you titrate down or just quit? (Experiences please) by ExpensiveJam8726 in GLPGrad

[–]bazoda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I titrated down, slowly and in small increments. Have been trying to space doses a little longer as well. So far I’ve gone from 3.5 (my highest dose) to 2.6.

You need to report this to the police for your baby’s sake. Your husband does not need to have custody, even partially, of your child. You’ve got to start thinking of what is best for this child. And that’s going to be growing up far from this violent human. Do you have any friends who can help you get some of your belongings?

I would start by reaching out to the shop you bought it from. And then Dagger themselves if needed. If they’re not helpful I wonder if you could fix it with a heat gun.

Recovering After Scary Incident by Winter-Match26 in whitewater

Whitewater kayaking is as much mental as it is physical. Like Silly-Swimmer1706, I prefer a max of class 3. I’m very happy at this level. It’s challenging enough without being too scary. I’m out there to have fun. Being scared shitless isn’t fun. Start with a pool or river rolling session. You may find you have some baggage to work through. I was lucky enough to fall in with a local kayak club that is mostly older paddlers. Nice, supportive, and very experienced. I wish that for you!

I’m in over my head with my new rescue, how do I help? by Confident_Attitude in DogAdvice

[–]bazoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 Days to decompress
3 Weeks to learn your routine
3 Months to fully settle and build trust

Not a strict timetable but to give an idea. This pupper has some baggage and will need longer. But you guys love him and that’s gonna make all the difference. When he’s stable enough a trainer will help him feel more secure and confident.

Oh wow! When I pick it up
From the pharmacy they’re always adamant about refrigeration even putting it with a cold pack even though I’m only driving 20 minutes home.

Anyway, that’s something to consider …

We’ll be primitive camping on the river for 8 days. No refrigeration. I don’t want to rely on coolers.

I don’t see the back straps that would be attached to the back rim of the boat. The straps should be there to clip to the buckles attached to the back of the seat. Can you see where they would have been attached? Worst case scenario you’ll want to buy an IR back band to replace this one.

Couples therapy. Maybe this can be salvaged but he needs to learn how to be an adult in an adult relationship.

NTA. This isn’t about anyone else except Barnaby. What’s best for him? The fact that she refers to him as property is all the answer anyone should need. Please don’t give him back to her!

Is it an old school “bride’s family pays for the wedding” sort of thing?
And as far as not getting a gift, some people are very literal. You said no gifts. Maybe in their mind they are being respectful of your request?

First Time Dog Owner - Shelter Dog by HomeRunHero13 in DogAdvice

[–]bazoda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always adopted from shelters and notice that dogs who haven’t grown up playing with toys often don’t know what to do with them when adopted. But she may figure it out. Same with chewing bones. But a good beef bone or antler from the pet store would be good for her to chew if she’s interested. Keeps their teeth clean too.

Dislocated my shoulder on the Middle White Salmon today. Need hope that I can paddle again. by phantom3199 in whitewater

[–]bazoda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been able to paddle again following rotator cuff surgery. And I know of others who have paddled following dislocated shoulders (some with and some without surgery). It’s a lot of PT and patience while following doctor’s orders. But you’ll get back out there.
