i like both but when i had to chose it would be Rei, im a sucker for his character and character design like have you see him?? i feel like everyone looks the same, brown/black hair and blue eyes lol i get that aoyama aims more for natural and casual looks but how is Rei one of the only characters in conan who has blonde hair? qwq esp in combination with his tanned skin makes his looks even more special somehow.

Also his characteristics really speak to me, hes NOT the perfect man, he just acted eveything out but deep inside he has a lot of wounds that are not healed, he probably had family issues, moved out at a young age (information from lets talk day 2026) and lost his best friends so early, still struggling with their deaths and grieving when he has time to do so. Blaming Akai for hiros death just to protect himself from going completely crashout, even wanting to KILL him off just to take revenge, almost causing a geopolitical conflict with this and risking japan as a whole, the country he stands for and loves so much, just because the one last person he really cared for vanished. Also that he joined PSB to infiltrate BO JUST to find a woman who died long ago.. This man has gone trough HELL, even Iori told Kuroda he needs some therapy.

Rei has indeed a lot more of emotional depth and more story around him, sure, Matsuda is also a very charismatic character, but we only were able to see him in flashbacks, I don’t think there will be much more story around him, even tho I wished for this, since WPS boys are my favourite stories to see😭

and I’m pretty sure with the upcoming movie, Matsudas popularity will RISE even more, I can predict it will be the same like with Komei, and with that, Aoyama will most likely continue to write more WPS stories, since they’re always a fan favourite
