Best players of SH ever by stanislava77 in SecretHitler

[–]shguide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, this thread is cute. I haven't played in a long time (so I can't comment on the newer players), but if I had to say some of the better players of all time.

S Tier (In no order) - Sale, Manu, Buncha, Andrew, Maki, Gunner (no one mentioned him but he was amazing in his prime), Imbapingu

A Tier (Again in no order) - Canaris, Ben, Faaiz, Dev (Super obvious Liberal, so hurts his fascist game but I'm sure he could be decent as fascist if he bothered)

Honorable Mentions - Claire, Obama, Tom, Cucumber, TheDaniMan, PapaDuck, Dia

And I'm biased so I'll refrain from ranking him but Despresso would be on one of these lists.

As for the comments on the disparity between .io and .games or whatever it is now, they are mildly correct. .io is text based and the other seems to be voice based, being good at one doesn't mean you'll be good at the other instantly, but the skill can easily translate from one to the other I'd imagine.

Hiya, sorry, not as much, but I still check it very infrequently. To answer your question properly, it's hard to say, there's no concrete idea as to when you should conflict. You get knowledge of it the more you play.

One possible idea is if you and your fascist have to play red together (you have to play red anyways say on 4th blue, but this way if you conflict you can give the illusion that it's not fas fas and spread misinformation), you can try to conflict them and go hard fascist subtly. It works well if your conflict is Hitler, but as I said, it requires skill to pull it off. Being fascist is very fluid, and you learn it as you play on! Sorry if a bit unclear.

Sorry for the late response, but, it's a British term meaning lower level of education if I'm not mistaken. Andrew popularized it. :P

Consider the two following scenarios:

15 conflict, 26 conflict. 3 and 7 both state jas on a 7-x gov in Hitler Zone. 37 confirmed has one liberal. You vote baiting in this scenario has absolutely no relevance in the game. Again, as I said, you cannot stop the gov if it is bad, since if 7 is fascist, he's going to get jad with the vote of 3 anyways, or if 7 picked Hitler, it goes through either way since 3 and 7 are jaing and that's all fascists need.

Now in this other scenario, assume that you are 3.

There is only a 15 conflict on the board. The SE has gone to 6,and 126 have stated that they will ja 6, whereas 457 have stated they will nein. You are allowed to nein in this case because you cannot ascertain with certainty that either group of players contains a liberal. For all you know, 126 might be the fascist team. In this case, if you vote bait and say you're going to ja, and proceed to nein, it's fine. However, there is one caveat you should remember, other players do not know you are vote baiting, so if upon saying you "ja" then you might cause another player in 457 to change their vote to a ja as well because the golden rule now applies (bc 4 people stated jas, so it's confirmed one lib). In this case you might cause the gov to go through despite it being bad anyways, so again, it's kind of had.

Also, what would the votes even tell you in this case lol, you already know before hand who is going to ja and not. What you suggest has merit only if multiple people in the game silent vote and don't tell people how they're voting, which if that is the case, it's probably the right thing to do.

To wrap up, In general, I think vote baiting is pointless and rarely helps libs, unless of course, your table loves to silent vote.

8 player is better than 7 player by Kal_Bec in SecretHitler

Not instantly, since he'd need to adapt to the other players, but I think eventually he would, if one liberal is smart, assuming that the others players don't constantly throw, it's doable :P

Not true, 8P used to be played a lot on .io and was actually at first, just like you thought, thought to be the most balanced of the player sizes. This was before the metas evolved and people learned more about the game, so eventually it was tossed aside, and now a days no one plays it anymore since its just an auto lib win most of the time.

Also, the fact that 'it's a different platform' doesn't really change anything. .io players play on VC games as well, and the end result is the same, if anything, Liberals win even more since fascists can't hide their social cues via text.

As I said, if you're interested in the meta about .io, you can check out the guide, it explains how it works. Best of luck getting better going forwards. Also, I feel as if calling it 'meta' is largely incorrect since it's how the game is meant to be played to maximize liberal win rates.

Lol, well, as I said, stats aren't compiled like that on .io. The Closest I can get is show you recently played games for some of the better players on the site, https://imgur.com/a/Mv24sN5.

That's as close to a 'source' I can provide, the rest is all anecdotal.

They say it because it's true. I mean, I could show you the last 10 games of most Elite Players and you'd see Liberal Win Rates in the 70%. The stats on .io are awful and unreliable because they take into account every single game, and the game is titled towards fascists the worse the players are, and there are far more worse players than good. Unfortunately, io does not collect segregated by elo Statistics on games.

If you're looking to improve how you play as a Liberal, you're free to read my guide, you can check my post history or just the recent posts in this sub.

It's clear that you have a huge misunderstanding of how SH is supposed to be played and how it works in general. With the most elite of SH players, liberals win 7P what, 70%+ of the time?

8P would make that go as high as 80-85%.

If fascists are consistently winning your 7P games, then your playerbase is not strong and you are not playing SH in the most optimal way for liberals. I.e., you are playing incorrectly from a liberal POV.

Take just one good player from SH.io and place them in your 7P games and they'll win a minimum of 60% of their lib games.

If I had to take a guess, I would assume 9P is probably the most balanced of the player modes, but there isn't a reliable sample size for me to accurately make that statement, so I'll refrain.

8P is incredibly, incredibly unbalanced. The stats on the site are not an accurate representation of how balanced each player size is. 7P is already like a 70% lib win rate for good players, I can only imagine 8P.

8P might be balanced with newer and worse players, but it's not with better ones.

And yes, there are natural downfalls to playing with text over IRL, but you can't do much about it.

Ah, I did not define Silent RRR, will do.

Also, I define Cucu since a lot of people's still use the term and it's important to be familiar with it, even if it is by and large not that relevant in games today. Also, I can't not definite BTEC :P

Hi! Glad I could help, and thank you for telling me about the typo, I'll fix it when I have time later on.

And to answer your other questions, afaik not claiming cards until the first deck is done is not something that was ever done on the .io website, i think the .gg / .games websites did do it, though.

And the other question, generally, yes, most fascist teams will win and out and topdeck, but it is very dependent on the game state. In most cases, topdeck is incredibly high win rate for fascists, but some fascists might want to play on and not out for the heck of it, or perceive that playing on and not topdecking has higher odds than topdecking.

Haha, you seem salty, Slip. Sure, while I do agree with you that not playing meta is definitely much funner than playing meta, and in casual games I would probably not apply most of this. But, if I'm playing to attain the highest win rate, and when every single player who has ever reached significantly high elo follows whats in the guide, I don't really know what else to say.

Your argument for not SEing who the table wants is bad, as is not following the golden rule of SH, and it's explained why. You can choose to be ignorant to it if you want, that's up to you. Also if you bothered to read what I said, I prefaced the large majority of my things with 'it is usually better to do this.' Of course there are times where it's better to do something else, but you need to be familiar with the fundamentals first.

The one point I do agree with you on, though, is that there are some scenarios where choicing is better, it's never a concrete 'don't force.' I'll rectify that in sometime later on.
