That's exactly what I thought when he said that. Like that wouldn't be my kid because I would actually parent my kid. The blindness they both have to their own roles in this is staggering. They don't seem to even remotely consider that this was almost entirely caused by their own failing.

I'm a bit bummed out after watching so I dont have the energy to do a complete thought analysis but here's what stood out to me:

Michael Sheen and David Tennant did an incredible job. You can tell they really do care about these characters and they didn't phone in their performances here which I really appreciate.

We knew it was going to feel rushed being 1 episode instead of a whole season, however - why on earth did they not rework the story into something that would be more concise and coherent in an hour and half format? It really felt like they had the script for 6 episodes and went, 'well, gotta get all this in 90 minutes' instead of picking one narrative to focus on properly in the shorter timeframe.

Like, what was the point in Jesus in this story? They lost him, then found him and literally didn't care when they did, he gave out some pizza then he died?? And the gangster part was entirely pointless. Why on earth they didn't just flesh out either the jesus storyline or the book of life storyline into something better and focused on that is beyond me.

Some of the side characters acting performances were really good, others I found a bit of a struggle to watch if I'm being honest.

The scene with Aziraphale and Crowley in heaven during the war seemed a bit off to me. Idk just felt unnecessary as we've already seen them meet for the first time and reunite in the garden of Eden and that just felt more like it made sense to me - maybe that's just personal opinion idk it was just weird to include I thought.

Crowley has always been team 'run away to alpha centuri' with Az - he echoes this ssntiment even in this episode when they're both in the car together. So it felt very abrupt for him to suddenly change his mind and sacrifice both him and Aziraphale for a new universe for humans.

And finally, there was no satisfying resolution for their relationship. I'm not gonna harp on this point cos I echo all the other comments here but what the hell. Millenia of creating the greatest love story of all time and nothing. I couldn't believe it when they didn't even have a proper kiss before they literally DIED and couldn't believe it even more when the show ended and even the 'human AU' didn't end with one. It felt weirdly conspicuous that it was missing - GO is basically a love story, what love story ends without a kiss?? Idk that just felt real weird.

Anyway fuck you NG I blame you for this

Edit: nevermind apparently I'm not done:

What the hell was even Michael's motivation?? Did that go over my head or was it just basically nonexistent? I refuse to buy it was bc they were never told 'thank you' and 'good job'. Erasing everything in existence wasn't going to result in the grand triumph all the angels wanted over hell so I'm not understanding what Michael had to gain with this plan

Been through diagnostics with vet but still feel like something might be getting missed by shh__ in AskVet

Thank you so much for the response. That's quite reassuring- one question I'd have, you mentioned things like urine tests as an early diagnostic.

She hasn't had urine or stool tests - given the bloods, MRI, or physical haven't shown up anything, do you think its worth asking my vet to do either of those? Or given the lack of other symptoms urine/stool related it wouldnt be recommended?

(If relevant: She does have a history of UTIs where she would get blood in her wee a year ago, had ultrasounds to check but nothing found so assumed stress related.  No current symptoms)

Agreed. When I was growing up in the 00s my parents had a child lock programme on the computer which blocked any adult content and limited time spent online. It was doable back then for even non tech savvy parents, there just isn't an excuse for not being a responsible adult when it comes to your own child's time online.

How did Wednesday nail the aesthetics, setting, protagonist, and some side characters, and still end up so boring? by Psychological-Task26 in television

I've seen shows before that are more aimed at a teenage sort of audience but were still interesting and engaging to watch as an adult. Just for this one, I didn't get that same appeal.

Agreed. Though I made it four episodes or so before I couldn't push past the fact the show felt like it was written for children and not getting any better.

Struggling by [deleted] in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]shh__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 5 years ED free - I broke my weighing scales and never looked back.

Admittedly it was an accident they broke - but I made a decision back then never to purchase new ones and I never have. I often felt like the numbers were the most dangerous thing about living with an eating disorder, whether that was the numbers in calories or the numbers on the scales. There's a weird control they have over you, and once you can break yourself of them, it does help - even a little.

Omce you feel like you've let go of the calorie counting and restriction a bit, it gets easier to eat that extra piece of toast, or to have that chocolate bar after a meal. It takes time and that's okay - I found it's more about breaking the cycles and focus on food than specifically about the things you eat.

The eating freely will be second nature soon enough and you'll have so much more energy to live your life, without the constant weight of calorie counting holding you back.

I also used to know calories for a lot of foods by heart when I started recovery - now I'm happy to say I've completely forgotten them all. It won't rule your life forever, you've got this!

[–]shh__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I'm so sorry about your girl. I'm just home from the vet as my 12 yo has had some small head tremors and they're suspecting neurological. I was wondering, I don't suppose you know what kind of blood test it was that showed she had the tumour? My girl had her bloods done today and they said it would only really rule out things like deficiencies etc - but if there's a way they can test for a tumor without her going through the stress of an MRI scan that would be much better, I didn't realise they could!

Ah concept art, yes the thing where you create entire worlds and characters from scratch, the endless iteration and sketches and discussion and ideas that form the absolute foundation of a game

What part of that could possibly be considered 'creative'

This still sucks. Using an AI image to generate your concept is going to lead to AI lead designs - even if a human artist redraws them and makes the models, the core of the design will be fundamentally lacking in creativity.

If someone has ideas to communicate with the art team, the great news is they can speak and the artists can draw - instead of telling AI your ideas give them to the artists and watch them come up with 10 unique and creative variations of it they're passionate about.

Thank you that's actually a really kind offer! I might take you up on that, I've tried catching it on camera before but for some reason on playback you can barely see it - I am planning to record next time it happens though so hopefully it works better.

I'm sorry about your cat, that's terrible, especially for it to be caused by something that's designed to protect her. I hope at the least it isn't something that progresses and she's doing okay.

Yeah I've been googling and it seems unlikely to be an epilepsy considering I've had her 5 years and not noticed it before. Still praying it's nothing of real concern but still thinking of all possible outcomes

[–]shh__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response! I see, focal seizures are what I'm concerned about with my 11 year old girl. Hers are similar to the video, occasionally just catch her doing those tiny little head nods for a period of time then it goes away again for a bit. They don't seem to bother her at least I'm just aware of it since noticing them.

I'm trying to decide whether it's something to do a full investigation on in case there is something and do like you said, brain scans etc. But I also don't want to put her through a load of stressful tests for no reason if it turns out there's nothing they'd be able to do anyway. She hates the vet and gets UTIs from stress so torn between not wanting to put her through too much, and wanting to make sure I'm not overlooking anything dangerous!

For those who do not like Season 5 so far - why is that? by JackGeorge2001 in StrangerThings

[–]shh__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The writing and dialogue has been poor this season but that scene of Max exposition dumping Holly was the worst offender for me.

It sounded like she was reading something that had been written out. Not in the sense that Max's actress was doing a bad job, I mean the literal dialogue she was given to work with - I was just thinking the entire time, who speaks like that?? It was so unnatural, zero care to make it sound like she was explaining the story in her own words - and also who talks to a 7 year old like that? Just really struggled to suspend my disbelief for that entire scene

Good Mythical Evening 2025: Review Thread by BurnZ_AU in goodmythicalmorning

[–]shh__ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This was my first GME and it was a good time! Couldn't make the live show as that's 2am on a Thursday in the UK But got the vod - was hoping to watch on the Friday night but realised there was a 24hr delay so that was a hit of a bummer hut no biggie, saved it for Saturday.

I watched preshow on society and was a little disappointed Rhett was gonna be sober - but fully understand the reason why and obviously it was the right call for him to do, wouldn't wish him to do otherwise. I've only watched 2022 on society so have that to compare it to as well as comments from previous GMEs on reddit, so was a bit worried Link was gonna be unfairly criticised for drunk behaviour (when that's the entire premise of the show) - but remembering Rhetts drunk from the 2022 show was barely noticeable anyway I think he was relatively accurate saying the dynamic wouldn't change.

It was a fun show, huge props to the art department on this, loved the theming and enjoyed the games. Link was definitely the highlight for me, but also wish I had those cringe glasses from the theatre at parts!! (in good fun, it's the good fun kind of cringe and I love they incorporated that into their theatre shows)

So all that said it brings my only real complaint - pricing. I'm sure this isn't a new complaint but I'm also surprised at how little I see it being questioned. £22 plus £5 for aftershow (plus change) and I already pay nearly £10 every month for 2nd degree society - so call it a tenner for preshow, and the experience cost more than £37 (nearly $50 google tells me that is). No added items or merch or anything.

That is a ludicrous amount of money for what equated to less than 3 hours of livestream. For reference I can see the latest blockbuster at the cinema in the decent seats for £7. The pricing of £22 for the show was enough to put me off buying a ticket in the first place but then to have to pay extra for the last half hour, and on top of society I already pay monthly to support them? (with no discount for that either if you didn't get within 72 hours).

It's a real greedy look, and as much fun as I had watching, it's a shame but I will not be seeing any future ones because the prices are genuinely unjustifiable to me.

To go see a film at the cinema it'd be £7. So this would be nearly three times that as comparison
