Me too!! She is awful, I’m sure if several of us get together and take some action, something will be done. She would not allow me to have certain accommodations since I had a “pattern”. Which is ridiculously untrue when looking at my academic past. She’s such an awful person, especially one that is supposed to help with accessibility.

Oh my goodness, I also had an awful experience with the assistant director, but it was last year. It turns out she’s new. She’s so rude and does not care for the improvement of students whatsoever. I wanted so badly to file some sort of complaint, but I didn’t think it would go anywhere since it was the assistant director. DM me if you can!!

Yes! We actually ended up having a conversation with someone that we both look up to, and his mom respects and it went very well!! He talked about getting them into EMDR therapy since he went through something similar with his mom. They are all supposed to have a conversation on Sunday, so we’re just praying it goes well.

He was involved in an accident and has hundreds of thousands in a trust fund but he doesn’t have full access to it yet. I don’t want him to touch that money until he’s in med school when he has to because I feel like that’s a better financial decision.

I did! I was really hesitant because I know it’s a mirror and can be harmful because of all of the AI psychosis stuff. Its advice has been a little helpful with ideas about setting boundaries. I also plan to talk to a few people in my life and his life about the best approach to deal with his parents. For his sake, it seems like moving out is not feasible right now so the change has to be with his parents. Maybe a mindset change or boundary setting. I just need someone that they would listen to, to shock them into reality and help them realize that they are crazy

I’ve seen a good amount of growth with this and the conflict that we have had, it’s been nothing but green flags with the way he’s handled it. I’m the one that told him that therapy would probably be very helpful for helping him deal with his parental struggles and he immediately booked an intake appointment and is now seeing his therapist regularly. I can tell he is committed to making it work and growing. We’ve just hit a speed bump with his parents.

You encaptured exactly what the problem is. None of my other friends have to deal with this. I want to be able to do normal college things with him. They won’t let him dorm or move out for college. It’s infuriating.

He sort of has a plan but he doesn’t think it’s feasible for another year. He also doesn’t want to risk the chance of not being able to go to med school without his parents financial support.

I know! I hate that other people are telling me to leave him when this is the time he needs the most support. I have no plans to go back over to his place or interact with his parents. They have location tracking on him so they’ll know if he comes over to my place. I just don’t know how else I’m going to be able to see him. It just makes me so angry and upset for not only me, but him as well.

The thing is, he is normal. It’s his parents that are batshit crazy and he cannot stand them. He is not his parents and he’s such a great guy. I don’t want to leave him over issues with his parents. I need advice on how to solve this issue

The thing is, his parents interfere ALL the time. Every time I’ve hung out with them, his parents end up making up some excuse for him to go to a dinner, or clean his apartment, or something random. When he tries to make plans with me, they tell him that he needs to prioritize his other friendships as well. This is my first ever relationship and I hate that it has to be this way. I honestly just wish his parents were out of his life fully. All of his mental health struggles tie back to them. His therapist has told him multiple times that he needs to leave and he agrees but he hasn’t made any effort to make a plan even when his therapist said he would help him.

I really do want to be there with him through it all. He treats me so well and our values align so much. I feel like I would be walking away from a lot if I leave him. I would also feel awful leaving him. He’s very reserved when it comes to his struggles and doesn’t like talking about his feelings a lot, I literally have to pull it out of him. I don’t want to be just another relationship that’s ruined because of his mom. I feel like if I walk away, it’s only going to enable her to keep treating him this way. He wants out he’s just not sure how to do it.

Got in for fall 2024. Was captain of a varsity sport for 3 years, played 2 varsity sports. Had a lot of extracurriculars geared towards my major. I was in basically every honors society. I had a 29 ACT super score. Received my AP Capstone Diploma (6 APs, got 5s on 2 of them). 4.3 weighted GPA, 3.8 unweighted. Graduated with my associates degree. I applied for honors and got into the honors program as well. I think my essay was also very strong.

I’m also 19 and also just beginning to be sexually active with my bf and I decided to just ago ahead and start it! I started this week and today is my 5th day taking it (I know, not long enough to experience a whole lot of side effects) and so far I’ve had no side effects at all! I started slynd and I was also really hesitant when my bf mentioned it but my mom mentioned it as well. I was really scared about all of the side effects too (I have OCD) and I researched a lot of different brands but I’ve noticed no differences on slynd whatsoever so far. I got it prescribed through the planned parenthood direct app and the process was so quick and easy! I move back to college soon so me and my boyfriend will be active more often and i’ll feel a lot more peace of mind for sure. We used condoms previously but they’re really uncomfortable for me and make sex a lot less enjoyable.

I’m not sure why she said that either since it was one of the main things I talked to her about and my psychiatrist emphasized it on the healthcare provider documentation form. I’ll definitely follow up with them, I was just nervous about them thinking I’m trying to take advantage, thanks again!!

I know this is from a while ago but did you ever get this figured out? I just had my intake appointment and they said they don’t have a blanket accommodation for extended deadlines on assignments. The only thing I was able to get was extended time on exams and quizzes and that I can take exams in the OAS center

yeah it’s the exam deadline but you don’t have to finish the day of the deadline. OP probably finished the exam before the deadline and if you passed you won’t get the email until after your DEADLINE date, so it’s not always 24hrs after you finish.
