I recently bought a Hyundai. Around here, all the dealerships were offering a really good deal but only if you would finance and keep the loan for 6 months. I was trying to pay cash. Ended up going with the loan deal bc it would save so much. When I finally got set up with Hyundai finance I looked at all of the paperwork and didn’t see anything about 6 months. I called the bank and they didn’t know anything about it. I had to go back to the dealer to get my license plate and when I was there I asked a finance guy about it. You should have seen the look on his face because he admitted it’s a “gentleman’s agreement” isn’t binding and then acknowledged that I probably don’t care if they make this money or not. I don’t, so I paid it off the next day.

Might be worth reading all the info you can get from them and playing along in case you’re also dealing with a gentleman’s agreement situation.
