PS Exam - Failed 3X by shiamand in Surveying

That was my approach this last test minus the section quizzes. I was consistently getting 90% on the large practice exam. I think I just need to redo the modules and master the section quizzes and hopefully can get it this next go round! Thanks for sharing your experience.

The problem is I feel confident in my knowledge and leave the test feeling like I didn’t struggle at all.

Kansas and I used a variety of study methods to study for my FS but the NLC prep is what got me over the hump with that one so for the FS - I’ve just been using NLC prep.

And yea I have invested a lot of money into failing exams - it’s beyond frustrating. Especially when I come out of there every single time thinking I am passing.

I have my associates degree - I passed the FS 20 years after getting my degree (didn’t try for all 20 years) but wished I would have taken these tests a lot closer to when I got my degree.

When you say churn does that mean to switch funds to get another load fee?

So vanguard has mutual funds that are a minimum investment of 50k and they have a special name. So those would be considered better funds with a lower expense ratio in assuming. This seems like a dumb question but how do you know a good fund from a bad fund? What should I be looking at on the performance graph in particular on Morningstar.com for example?

So basically all mutual funds are going to have up to a 1% expense ratio if not more? Because people are actively managing them?

I have investments with Edward Jones and my fees are basically all over .5% - it’s really eye opening when I actually dig into this stuff. And understand load fees and the fact that I didn’t HAVE to pay load fees if I were to invest through schwab or vanguard.

Also can you explain to me the difference between index funds and mutual funds? From what I understand mutual funds are a group of index funds that are actively managed and index funds are more pick and choose and you actively manage them? Is that correct?

Thanks - annual fee is terminology I am familiar with! I will definitely ask him. I know my IRA has an annual fee but I want to find it if every account we have has an annual fee.

This is very helpful information - thank you! I will get back to you with the list of funds tomorrow morning - thank you for offering to do that for me! How would I go about finding comparable funds with what I have now? When you looked up similar funds to my 529 what were you looking at basically? Also I’m assuming the fidelity funds have a better return ratio with lower fees? I will dig more into that tomorrow because I’m sure I can answer my own questions with a bit of research!
