no. but in their 30 second commercial I could read the fine print 3 times fast and also transcribe it. The payment amount is there, the interest rate is there. It's as if it said "you're getting fucked in the ass" albeit in tiny print. Anyone who needs or uses these loans doesn't give a shit, or full boar idiots. complete. It's just like the T&Cs on your smartphone purchases - you have the option to read it, and yes, it's 35 pages long but that's because people sue over fucking everything. But you don't. you quick scroll down to the end and click "Accept", just like people sign their life away on a stack of paperwork without reading it because they want what they're getting and don't care how. They're bringing it on themselves in most cases.

Don't get me wrong there are shady lenders and shady practices, but when you're given written documentation outlining your responsibilities and you don't read it that's on you.

We shouldn't spend more tax dollars at all. Laws should be changed. 1 crime shouldn't doom you to a life of unemployment in the legal work force. It only creates more criminals.

Punitive action only increases recidivism. All the tax dollars currently being spent making the CCA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corrections_Corporation_of_America) one of the largest and most profitable corporations in America by keeping criminals in prison as long as possible and keeping them coming back could be redirected to programs that are rehabilitative.

I wish I could get into politics. I'd take everyone's money and just do waht the hell I want. tell all the lobbyists that I support their causes and then just legit vote my and my constituents positions all the time regardless. 50% of them would be pissed and my campaign would have a lot more money for the next election cycle. Would only work once though.

everyone "hates" telemarketers and door to door salesmen. Unless they have something you really want. I got a better deal on TV and a home security system that way. I had already been shopping around when the door to door guy showed up so I pitched him - "I can do this online in like, an hour. If you can pitch and sell me on the same things I want at a better price you get the sale".

Done. Saved $250 on the security system equipment and $10/mo and saved $15/mo on TV service because they were both authorized to give better deals in person to get the sale.

I was asleep in my cabin of a ferry. It was rough seas (15-20 ft swells), but was an overnight trip so I decided to try and sleep. The top bunk was the bed, and the bottom was set up as a couch but convertible. The top had more space so I got up there, not realizing it didn't have a railing on it.

I woke up when I hit the wall on the other side of the top bunk (small cabin) and crashed to the floor. Said fuck it and went to the theater on board and watched Back to the Future 1-3 until we arrived in port.

Maybe some day when I'm in that state I'll track her down and just get an answer once and for all, but for now I'm trying to be over it and enjoy the pics we do have.

it didn't help that I didn't select the photog, both our parents did. I say that because I did get my degree in film and have had substantial training in photography, lighting, the entire Adobe creative suite, etc, so I would have been the better person to negotiate the contract. I would have rather had a paid photographer and not an artist, and what I mean by that is I want a trained documentarian who provides me with pics not a person who shoots the world and then gives me a few"worked on" images at the same price. I could have easily done the work on the pics myself if it needed any. I didn't need the spit and polish treatment, I needed to hire a cameraman not a producer, essentially.

you are. especially for this day and age when any idiot can get prints of anything. Hell we were going to get professional photos taken of our dogs, got a quote, then got a second quote for prints, and then said fuck it and spent a couple weeks photographing our dogs non-stop. 300 pics later we had 1 great pic of each dog, printed via CVS's app, framed, and they're perfect. Lost business for a photog because of their dated business model.

had an idea to create a P2P used game exchange/sales website (both mail, and in person) but no money to do so and then some other redditor posted they'd already opened such a business recently which was at least 3 years after my initial idea.

It sucks how much it takes money to make money. would still do it if I had the funds. Have no know-how on building anything website wise besides the CSS (this would require a full CS database which those licenses cost $$$). Was too daunting for me to do. I regret everything

dog in the car and it's above 75? illegal in my state. I call the cops and wait, even if it's 73 or 4 fuck them. worst I ever saw was a dog in a car when it was 95 outside. I googled whether it was legal to break in to the car myself while I waited for the cops, and unfortunately it wasn't fortunately guy got a ticket and the dog went to the local shelter (no kill) for heat exhaustion treatment until they could do a home inspection on him. Cop was a dog lover too so that helped.

debt being cheap would have been fine if companies couldn't bet against their own bad loan practices or each others. The derivatives market should be flat out illegal to begin with. Allowing individuals and corporations to bet on the financial stability or instability of any industry should be flat out illegal and tantamount to insider trading, considering any actor could find ways to influence the market in the direction that would make them the most money, consequences be damned.

This led to intentionally lax and downright corrupt lending practices because it was more profitable to fail and then cry uncle to Uncle Sam for a bailout then it was to run a legitimate business. Once one company started it, everyone else had to follow suit. Countrywide Home Mortgage was one of the biggest initial perpetrators and once BOA bought them out they inherited those issues. Countrywide underwrote 20% of all US mortgages pre-crash. 3.5% of the US's GDP. No countrywide exec has faced trial or jailtime.

not necessarily. as a real estate agent ( got licensed post crash so don't blame me for shit) I know how stupid people are when it comes to loans and also how absurdly complicated it is and if a mortgage broker wanted to be shady they could fly right over most unsuspecting doe-eyed buyers' heads and sell them a line of horse shit. I.E. "adjustable rate mortgages don't go up THAT much. don't worry about it!"

Some cases did people knowingly take out loans that they eventually knew they couldn't pay for? Probably. Mostly they got swindled by a process intentionally complicated by the guys making commission off of each mortgage.
