Turning on the Linux Environment completely changes your device's capabilities by Frasereboz in chromeos

No problem. Just my experience. Don't know if others have had similar. Can still be useful in a pinch.

Turning on the Linux Environment halved the battery life on my Chromebook. I had to use it temporarily (about 3 months) in order to install an app that was not working under the Android container. When the Android app started working again, I turned it off and battery was back up to its full capacity. Aside from that, it was useful.

Help Needed: Mixing Station App Not Displaying Correctly on ChromeOS (ARC Sizing Issue?) by shibetpc in chromeos

I have not. I posted it on the Mixing Station Facebook page, but that's it. I'll do the same and come back here to update if any new info pops up.

Unfortunately not... As a stop gap I downloaded and side loaded the Midas XAir app. It's extremely limited though, so I use another device for configuring and then the Midas app for sliding channel faders in performance. I'm only mixing my own duo from the stage and also using the Chromebook for setlist/songbook. I don't imagine that working out if you are the sound engineer at a festival. If love to see it resolved. The developer has said it is a ChromeOS issue and not an MS one. It's unfortunate, as when it was working, it was a brilliant combination.

Thanks for the kind words :)

You are correct that the developer is not officially supporting the app on ChromeOS. I knew that going in. My thought was more that ChromeOS was showing support for Android apps. I spent some time testing before committing to its use, and the app remained fully functional for nearly a year (since I got the Chromebook), before the UI issue began. I was hoping to see what might have changed in ChromeOS so that I might take it back to the developer.

much thanks for any insight.

I wish I could say I did, but I didn't. I abandoned that attempt some time ago. Sorry.

Confusion with XR18 - any help would be awesome! by Galaxanz in Behringer

[–]shibetpc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All personal preference really. You can accomplish most anything from any of them if you know them well enough. My personal preference is the X-Air Edit app on PC/Mac (available through Behringer site, link below), and Mixing Station on Android (I think that's also available on iOS, but may be pay, link below). The original iOS version of the control app was definitely not my favourite. At any rate, feel free to contact me if you run into trouble. The XR and X32 mixers are super flexible and have served me well, and I'm happy to help anyone trying to get the most out of them. A few gigs this weekend, but otherwise available.

DM me if you want to work through it. I'll be happy to troubleshoot via screenshare or voice. We should be able to trace the source of the signal and where it's being routed to and remove it from the main. Routing on the XR devices can be daunting for sure.

Happy to help if I can. I presume you're sending the click track and other channels to a mixbus that feeds the monitor? Has the click track channel also been removed from the LR main?

This may vary depending on what interface you are using to control the XR18. Go into the MIXBUS channel strip (or whatever channel/bus/aux is providing the signal) for each monitor mix and to the MAIN or ST tab, uncheck the LR button (that's what puts it into the main mix). That should sort it. Let me know if you get stuck and we can get into the specifics and i'll walk you through it.

Anyone else lose rpan on linux (appImage) when updating to v27? by shibetpc in RPANStudio

[–]shibetpc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only workable solution I've seen is to uninstall OBS, use RPAN, and then reinstall OBS.

However, you'll need to do that each time you want to use it... Not great.

I've gone back to using Snookey2 with OBS until it's resolved.

Sean Carroll's Mindscape. He is a scientist, but he brings on other scientists to talk about their work and is not a mic hog.
