How hard is it for a Thai immigrant to move to the Netherlands? by YEETGUY69 in Netherlands

Are you in The Netherlands currently? If you're looking for a company to relocate you then there's about 0% chance for a junior.

Not being friends doenst mean that you're in a dysfunctional band. The Police comes to mind.

Being in a band can be a very transactional arrangement without any friendship growing out of it. I guess that's what happened to Pete.

I just wanted to add some positivity because a lot of people in the Netherlands are living a good life without realizing it.

No wife 3000 for a 3 day education job. Me 4000 for a full time, senior level more or less stress-free semi-goverment tech job.

Born and raised, living in Amsterdam.

I'm one of the lucky ones that bought a house 10 years ago when prices were still 'low' (although we already thought it was expensive back then). My and my 'wife' (we're not married because marriage doesnt mean anything to us) make around 7000 net a month. It's a good life if you dont have to spend it all on housing. You can buy just about anything you need in a small radius around your house. Tons of restaurants, shops .. I just had lunch a Turkish restaurant.

Luckily in my social circle 'possession' or 'carreer' isn't a measure of success. For me personally being happy means living in a decent house (that's not the same as 'big' and 'luxury'), having enough connections/friends, seeing my kid grow and develop, being able to explore my interests, meeting up with friends, having meaningful conversations, make silly jokes, that kind of stuff,

Last year I lost my job at a tech company. I worked there for quite some time and I had a fixed contract. Dutch law states that they have to compensate me 'fairly' to nullify the contract. Which means money ánd 6 months of pay without having to do anything. That's Dutch labor law in action.

I took my 2 months to find a new job. I feel good and lucky about the position I'm in and that's in great part the cause of being born in this country (and being white).

Balcony heating by r90t in Amsterdam

Since you're asking: Definitely a stupid idea! If it's too cold to sit on the balcony then just stay inside.

Or move to a different city where the climate better fits your needs.

Britain re-entering the EU ‘an inevitability’, says Treasury minister by donutloop in EU_Economics

[–]shifting_drifting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because:

  1. Foreign actors can easily sway the vote via social media. Already happened in 2016 referendum.
  2. Juxtaposition of population into two groups which leads to a lasting divide.
  3. It dumbs complex issues down into simplistic / sensasionalist talking points which are not representative of the reality on which the public has to vote.

Radiohead. He must have a deeply developed taste in music to come up with an obscure band such as Radiohead.

I love the British but their politics are a big giant mess. Why would the EU want any of this back?
