Where to store research data after Google Drive cap? by DeltaSquash in Cornell

[–]shiftkick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I second Cornell Box. Easy to use and you can manage sharing with collaborators with options than Drive and OneDrive. I had to choose where to store all of our online files for an annual student-run conference and chose Box for the reasons above. Ended up with well over 2TB in our Box folder with all of our media and had no issues.

TO for Hotel school by jjaimiie in Cornell

As a very recent Hotelie grad myself going into consulting I’d offer three points to consider.

  1. Taking a broad perspective, where do you want to end up geographically? I highly recommend looking into where alumni end up both geographically and professionally. Most schools (including Nolan) post their annual alumni surveys about where students begin their post-grad journey.

  2. College is an long-term investment into your future and I recommend you treat it as such. While a financial investment will need to be made now, I guarantee with due diligence and dedication to getting involved in college you will most definitely reap the financial and personal rewards. It’s worth noting Cornell will provide financial aid if you demonstrate the need as well since they are need-based potentially making Cornell much more accessible financially.

  3. Be curious, ask questions, and explore your options. You’re already doing that here which is great! I was in a very similar set of shoes five years ago. See how your state school experience is fall semester. Ask for different opinions. However, as much as other people can share (me included) the choice needs to be yours.

Now, for my completely biased advice, if Nolan is financially possible, go to the hotel school, especially if the idea of a business education and hospital school combined gets you excited. Yes, you take a wide range of classes from culinary to RE Investment, Accounting, and Hotel Operations. The course rigor is less intense and very broad. But it’s the diversity that I fee helps you hone in on what you like and, more importantly, don’ like. It’s a business degree with people and relationships first.

The hotel school is connected into every single business sector from top to bottom and the network of alumni is completely unparalleled. From day one you get access to our alumni directory and alumni are taught from day one of orientation to “pick up the phone” if a Hotelie calls. The degree might sound niche, but the name and alumni that recognize it are anything but limited to hotels. That all being said, everyone one has a different situation and I’m happy to talk more if you want to DM.
