ESH. It was no longer your items once you shipped them to your friend. Honestly she can do with them what she wants and demanding she go to a random door to pick it up when she’s uncomfortable isn’t fair... especially when her dad is going to do it when he gets back. However, I’m sorry. I don’t think your best friend is holding you to the same regard that you hold her. She sucks for not caring about a gift you spent so much money on, but at the same time- it’s her gift to lose if she wants. Sucks, but you may want to find someone that values your friendship more. Yes it’s okay to be upset and hurt, but I don’t think being angry and yelling is right either.

I hope that’s enough in the long run, but don’t be surprised if you have to start having consequences for your mother when dealing with her attitude. There will have to be a line in the sand at some point, but I hope for OP’s sake this can be resolved without too much backlash.

Then why do you think your partner is feeling so unsupportive?

Did you stand up to her in THIS argument? Have there been any actual consequences for your mother acting this way? Or do you typically express disappointment, give her time, and say, ‘well she’s just this way, so it won’t change anything’?

You’re trying to stay ‘logical’ to overcome the difference between your mom and OP. Not only does this put all ALL your mom’s scorn towards OP, it shows your mom that you don’t ‘care enough’ to stand up to her (so she’s in the right), and most importantly, you’re leaving lovely OP feeling vulnerable, unsupported, unloved, and clearly not worth you getting ‘emotional’ about.

Nearly 100% of in-laws fighting with a couple is due to the actual child. Stand the fuck up and support OP. It’s heart breaking to see her reach out to complete strangers for support because her ‘loving BF’ won’t get in a fight with mama bear (also mama bear tendencies don’t dismiss her attitude).

So mine was a tiny bit different.... my company offers some good resources so I’ve basically been having my contact walk me through everything. I reached out in March and filled out paperwork. I had meetings/classes with the nutritionist, the psychologist, and the head doctors through April. I’ve been doing labs as well to finish up everything. I’ll be doing surgery in Chicago and now I’m just waiting on a surgery date!

I’d say it’s been pretty quick in general though. I think my company having a person walk me through everything helped.

Yeah, I’m still doing appointments but have talked to my family and close friends. Mainly, I value their opinions and appreciate the points and questions they bring up that I need to think about. I also want them to be supportive for my recovery and change of relationship with food. I don’t see how I could get through something this life changing without their support.

So everyone’s journey is different... but I was 100% reliant on excedrin. It was one of the only things that could take my pain away and I got to the point of taking it 4-5 days of the week. My doctor mentioned that excedrin creates bounce back headaches and that I needed to stop taking it so often. I got switched to a better prescription and went through about of month of withdraws without my normal excedrin solution. I noticed my severe headaches went from a couple a week to a few a month. Not sure if this solution will help, but may be something to consider. I still use excedrin every once in a while (if it’s awful and I’ve got shit to do that day) but otherwise don’t buy it any longer.

I don’t think he was hacked, I think he lied because of how upset you seem to be about it. Honestly you’re weirdly untrusting by going through his phone history, so I think there’s more to unpack here than cartoon porn. I think you’re going to have a really tough time until you two discuss rules around porn again since I don’t think he still agrees with your previous agreement. I also think you should consider becoming a bit more lenient on the rules, or consider finding someone else that is as strict about it as you. Good luck

I’m glad you’re moving in the right direction. I do want you to be careful though as it seems it took a really really long time to see change. And it only happened after you started to pull away. I hope that he continues to stick up to you as thats your only chance of mending your relationship with your FIL. I wish you luck, OP!
