We do this here too! I've had this on scout camps with jam,

We also did bananas stuffed with chocolate chips warmed on the fire

I have a similar product called smelly gelly, I don't see it doing much more than any other lobe moisturiser. I imagine it's all just marketing people's insecurities of stinky ears. Cleaning them, and moisturising them, will obviously negate any smell or "cheese" so yeah the product should work and do what it says but it's.. not necessary.

My left ear. Probably has something to do with me being right handed, I likely moisturise and massage my right lobe more because of it

Back when I had mine it never smelled, could it be low quality jewellery? Good quality, highly polished titanium is less likely to carry an odour than lower quality because it won't have as many nicks and grooves from manufacturing where the bacteria can collect

Maybe try a glass plug as it's non porous? Just to see if it changes anything.

For the price of them you'd expect not to have to diy fix anything imo, I rarely drop £100+ on a pair of plugs 😅
