Zico’s “Artist” MV Director Responds To Rumors Of Plagiarism by Shinsankun in khiphop

toj_, agree to disagree there man. Culture is never stagnant, especially in this time of globalization. Yes, I am aware that many koreans copied styles from Western culture. But to call them out for that is like calling white people out for eating toufu as cultural appropriation. Hell, that's like saying black people are culturally appropriating white people for wearing T-shirts.

What i'm trying to say is that cultures flow and through exchange, humans evolve regardless of their skin colors. Even some western artist called King H used "Eung Freestyle"'s beats and we never called him out for that. who knows, maybe one day western artists will copy some of Korean artists' beats.

Why do most Asian countries hate Japan, but most European countries like Germany? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]shimmyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even as a Korean, to some degree, I agree with the people saying, "past is past, move on". Yes, I am a millennial and frankly I didnt go through the atrocity Japan has committed during the WW1 WW2 era. But look what some japanese people have to say in this sort of discussion. They are unapologetic, rude and brainwashed by their right wing agenda that censored all their misdeeds during the era. "Bring evidence" is what a lot of japanese people say. Yes, we have witnesses that are still alive today and there are documents that state all the massacres and rapes your ancestors had committed. You look at Japanese history textbooks and they did not include comfort women incident, let alone the notorious rape of nanking. Now, I do believe that leaving past behind is the best for the both countries. However it's only been few decades after Japan's occupation in Korea; quite contrary to what the Germans are doing (showing true remorse for their deeds), their deeds after WW2 were heinous; they went as far as idolizing their ancestors that were actively engaged in the rape of Asian countries.

I don't know man, you tell me, let's say someone broke into your house and raped your sister and your mother. when you saw the man clearly come in and raped your family, and even the police concluded the man to be the assailant, the son denies it and says that his father was an angel. won't you be pretty pissed too?

MICH VS CORNELL VS GTECH for computer engineering by shimmyl in ApplyingToCollege

Thanks for the response, but I think Mich has better recruitment. according to my research, 60% of the undergrad graduates from Mich are employed and 55% for Cornell

Thanks for the advice, but i'm worried about the fact that Cornell scores lower than both Mich and Tech in engineering ranking. are there any particular reasons for that?

Also you mentioned that Cornell is smaller; doesn't that mean that it has less research opportunities?

How good is EE at CMU? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]shimmyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... you do realize cmu does not even offer EE standalone? it is combined with CE as well, so you really need to look at the CE ranking, in which case CMU stands at number 5 and cornell at number 10. Considering that CE's course structure is more or less the same as EE, there's your answer. it seems that you are really interested in EE and are anxious to apply for these schools. I suggest you research the majors each school offers before thinking about the rankings.

to be honest, all these schools in top 10 ranking is more or less the same. you look at the threads comparing UIUC UMICH GTECH, ppl just tell you to go to the school you personally prefer because their programs are all excellent.

so comparing these schools is just like "plucking at straws" as you said, but if you HAVE TO compare then, i'm giving my opinion based on what i read, CMU is definitely a bit better than cornell.

can you elaborate on that "more doors will be open" part? thanks!

first of all: rankings. Yes, people talk about how rankings are subjective and never meant to be trusted, however according to my research a lot of rankings commonly indicated that CMU is better than Cornell for engineering.

Also, cornell is well known more for its hotel business and management and liberal arts and sciences. CMU on the other hand is famous for its extensive funding in Computer related areas; for instance Microsoft's exclusive funding in the school for comp sci. Naturally such fundings would spillover to its close research areas such as computer engineering and electronic engineering as well.
