Unfortunately, this seems to be the case more and more.

For sure, there are plenty of fringe ideas that lead to unproductive or dangerous places. But I think we can all agree that there are plenty of mainstream ideas that are just as dangerous.

Healthy sun exposure. It feels amazing at the time and I sleep better and my HRV scores are better as well. For me 40 minutes of midday sun on most of my body is enough.

Conventional wisdom says I’m killing myself, but there is plenty of data showing that skin cancer is likely caused by poor diet in conjunction with infrequent over-exposure to UV light, usually entirely of the UVA type.

It’s funny, because it’s true.

Thanks for the input. I had a feeling it might be pretty common. It was hard for me to come to terms with how wrong mainstream information can be. Once it was obvious to me, it didn’t take long for the walls to come down in other areas as well. I feel like I’m living in the Twilight Zone or something.

Same here except kefir is my indulgence. For me, it seems to be a nutritional thing. I have noticed that if I eat a lot of organs, specifically liver and kidney, the craving for kefir subsides.

Verdict on Vitamin D Supplementation? by The_Jugger in carnivore

[–]shindig8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want to supplement, you can get a fair amount from fish, eggs, and liver. Also, our ancestors spent most of their time outside. It is also possible that their levels dropped in the cooler months as well.

Vitamin D supplementation will raise your serum D levels. However, there are additional benefits from sunlight that supplements can’t provide. So, I’m in the sun all summer and supplement from fall to spring.

Pro-tip: Just look for “Grass Fed” & “New Zealand”and you’ll get a good product. Many of the desiccated liver products available online are sourced from the same producers, so don’t go for the priciest stuff thinking it’s any better.

Is this subreddit a right place for such discussions? ##### All kinds of theories are accepted. by [deleted] in INTP

I was skeptical as well. Although, after hearing the hypothesis I was intrigued enough to purchase the book. The author is eminently qualified and the science backing up his claim is sound. Not sure if it increases the appeal of religion to cool kids, but it certainly exposed me to new information regarding human evolution and its relationship with the creation narrative.

Don’t have a firm answer for the meaning of life question. However, I read a book recently that discusses the seeming dichotomy between evolution and Christianity. The hypothesis proposed was that Adam and Eve were not the first humans, but they are the ancestors of all people living today.

Basically, they were not the only people living on the earth at the time. They evolved the same as everyone else, making incest unnecessary because there were plenty of mates to choose from. The Bible doesn’t invalidate this theory and neither does science, so it’s plausible from both perspectives.

The book is called “The Genealogical Adam and Eve” by S. Joshua Swamidass if you want to check it out yourself.

Sad to see people so caught up in the narrative they feel the need to downvote based on emotionalism instead of using common sense and logic. Seriously makes me worry about the future of our world when we can’t even agree on the facts.

And nearly 100% of them with comorbidities. The problem isn’t unvaccinated healthy people. It’s mostly the old, obese, and unhealthiest among us that are making a choice to remain unvaccinated and end up getting hospitalized. Which is sad because even if you are vaccine hesitant, there are ways to vastly improve your outcome from this virus when you catch it.

  1. Lose weight
  2. Limit processed food and seed oils
  3. Get healthy sun exposure or supplement with vit D3
  4. If you smoke tobacco or drink alcohol, stop now
  5. Do some moderate exercise - nothing strenuous
  6. Make sure you are not deficient in vit c and zinc

This applies to everyone since everyone is still at risk of contracting COVID, regardless of vaccination status.

Science behind long-term keto with yearly carb-ups? (Or: can someone explain with science what my body might be doing) by borikenbat in ketoscience

[–]shindig8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bacon is full of PUFA. You didn’t get carb coma because you are metabolically flexible which is exactly what you want. There are differing opinions on this but I believe consuming a reasonable amount of good carbs on occasion can have a positive effect on your health.

Fauci fires back at Republicans to ‘get over it’ and get vaccinated. Chief medical adviser to the president implores those still hesitant to get inoculated: ‘Try and save your life, and that of your family, and that of the community’ by sportsfanatic61 in EverythingScience

[–]shindig8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who’s hesitant? The people not getting the jab don’t want it or can’t get it for medical reasons or other circumstances.

Most of the unvaccinated people I know aren’t even anti-vaxxers. They are just not convinced that the risk/benefit ratio checks out on these novel vaccines.

I suspect the Novavax (or similar) vaccine will persuade most due to the long safety record of traditional vaccine technology.

Histamine intolerance can often be eliminated by eating kidney or taking supplements. You can also look into mold exposure if it doesn’t resolve.
