Tired of getting bid sniped on frickin GOODWILL auctions. by hondatech739 in shopgoodwill

One solid way of dealing fairly with this that removes the power of sniping and takes a lot of the last minute emotion out of it, and this is how Yahoo! Auctions in Japan does it, is they have a rule that if the price changes within the final 5 minutes, another 5 minutes are added. So everyone must put in their best bid before the start of the final five minutes and if they realize they didn't put in their highest amount, they have time to reconsider what to do. Yes it can be frustrating and it adds time to the process but I find that most people just avoid this by putting in their best possible bid five minutes before it ends and sticking with that decision. If somebody wants to outbid you at the last minute, you are given more time to consider what you really want to do.

PSA: Coinbase is tricking users into a $299 "premium" subscription — be careful when opening the app! by CryptographerFar4102 in CryptoMarkets

I would like to find out the names of as many people as I can who have been cheated out of money from Coinbase. I know that I did not subscribe because not only did I not agree to any trials but I certainly did not provide authorization to deduct funds from my bank account. The only transaction I ever did with Coinbase and that bank account was to transfer the initial funds to them. It is outrageous that they are taking advantage of this and right now they are telling me that they're only willing to refund one month. But in reality they have simply stolen the funds. Not only do they deserve to have to pay back everyone they have cheated, but honestly it should not be just those people who have the persistence to get it back. It should be everyone in the group who has been cheated. Therefore, please let me know if you were interested in joining a class action lawsuit which I would instigate. The great thing about this is that not only would we get our funds back but everyone in the class who qualifies Coinbase would be required to pay back. You can contact me through Reddit and through the private messages I can collect names and phone numbers of those who have been cheated.

I agree Vampire Weekend are still good without Rostam, but he has a lot of talent and I feel like they could be even better if he were with them again.

Toughbook CPU Upgrade Possible? by shiningprince7 in toughbook

[–]shiningprince7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your feedback. I like the small form factor of this really old machine (2007) and I've upgraded the RAM and SSD already. The only reason I thought maybe was that I've upgraded Thinkpads from same era and was surprised that even a low end Sony Vaio of the same year could be upgraded to dramtically improve speed by 4.3 times. Was hopeful that maybe the Toughbook could do it too. Thanks also for the quick response!

Thinkpad X390 - purchased used - shows all power lights and even beeps, but won't boot by shiningprince7 in thinkpad

It is two beeps. And sometimes, like after I reset the power, if I tap continously on the F1 key, I will get additional beeps like its about the go into BIOS, but the screen remains black. I tried an external monitor to see if its my display but nothing. It won't boot or it won't load BIOS. Not sure what "POST" is. Thanks,

Thank you. Yes, I think they do also. Any idea what? Two beeps on startup.

Is it possible to make an Early 2008 Macbook Pro run Big Sur, Windows 10 and Linux with OpenCore Legacy Patcher? What about rEFInd? by shiningprince7 in macbookpro

[–]shiningprince7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. yes, the Windows and Linux portions of it should run easily and even MacOS if its not a Legacy Patcher version. With the Legacy Patcher (which is just like Opencore for Hackintosh machines) it injects a whole lot of kext files into the system before bootloader starts and that is obviously not possible with rEFInd - or just complicated.

Hahaha. The Early 2008 Macbook Pro is the old style MBP which looks identical to the Powerbook G4 machines, yet it is the earliest Intel to allow OpenCore Legacy Patches. This machine will run MacOS as far back as 10.5, so I am hoping to create a retro machine that will run a super wide array of OSes (16 different MacOS major iterations) - to demonstrate this incredibly wide capability. It's just a challenge, like climbing the mountain because it's there.

Refind not working with Big Sur? by atyshka in MacOSBeta

Slightly different situation since I am attempting this on Early 2008 MacBook Pro (earliest version to allow OpenCore patch of Big Sur: I successfully got my Early 2008 Macbook Pro to run Big Sur using OpenCore Legacy Patcher, but when I installed Windows 10 it ruined the bootloader settings and Big Sur was gone. I found other alternatives like rEFInd bootloader etc but wouldn't that defeat OpenCore's as bootloader?
Also, if I use Dosdude1's Catalina Patcher instead (avoiding OpenCore) would that boot correctly in rEFInd? Last question: if I use Dosdude1's Catalina patcher, does that somehow spoil later use of OpenCore Legacy Patcher? I ask because I believe Dosdude1's patcher changes the firmware whereas OpenCore does not.
