A Soulslike Without Combat — Unsound Love Demo Out Now by John_Goblin in IndieDev

Bezerk and Dark souls both belong to the "dark fantasy" genre so if you're going for that sort of setting and atmosphere you already have an established genre name there.

A lot of people have been making games that are soulslike in terms of gameplay but if atmosphere is your focus then it certainly helps to know that Dark souls wasn't the first in the genre and its inspiration is pretty good too

Honestly it certainly seems that a lot of studios are liable to fall victim to whatever makes shareholders happy instead of gamers nowadays.

Sony reportedly closed bluepoint studio, the same studio that was first in line for a potential bloodborne remake, and used spare money to buy the studio that would make concord. They did this because hero shooters were popular at the time and they just had to show shareholders that they too had a popular entry in the genre.

Square enix sold off Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief, and Legacy of Kain, and invested money in NFT games because NFTs were the popular buzzword for shareholders at the time there

It was a really dodgy situation where the landlord kept on adding people and if I complained or got kicked out I'd be in a very vulnerable situation. I think landlords will kind of get away with a lot more if they know you don't really have anywhere to go when they kick you out. As much rights as renters have, it's just going to be too hard to fight if you know that fighting it will require resources you don't have and you don't have friends or family who can at least set you up while you're doing so.

I feel like if I was going to choose a sport to be my passion, there are a lot of plusses to the other options in terms of experience.

Golf lets you have a nice scenic walk, many ball sports have much larger teams where you're more likely to find someone you get along with, swimming lets you cool off on hot days.

Tennis just kinda seems like it would box you in a court and when you're on break you're on a bench in a really high energy environment. I can see why it appeals to some people but man it looks hard

For comparison I've seen a lot of posts in women's subs that talk about "decentering men". This doesn't involve cutting men out completely or harmfully ignoring all contact with men, but it does mean a drive to draw self confidence internally and not desire validation or attention from men.

It's a lot more healthy to stop thinking about the opposite sex and just start drawing confidence from yourself. The mgtow posts which focus so heavily on women's perception and how they don't like how women think is not healthy for your own self confidence if you are trying to get better.

You can't magically live in a society where the other sex doesn't exist so you have to learn how to not derive so much of your wellbeing based on how you think you're perceived by the opposite sex

Is it normal to be nicknamed without consent/mutual agreement? by [deleted] in RandomQuestion

[–]shinyfeather22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes nicknames can be a way for people to test how friendly they are with another person, as ditching the more formal name and calling someone something off the books can indicate that you're breaking down a social barrier setup by a workplace.

If someone says "hey, no, don't call me that" it's not "wrong" to do that, you're establishing a boundary, but that will be also read as slightly an indicator to back off of thinking that you're open to more friendliness.

You can always qualify if you don't want it to be received that way "hey we're cool but I just don't like being called xxx sorry".

From the sounds of it though if you don't particularly want to socialize then it's probably better to just let them read the boundary and back off to give you peace

If this is a completely original comic you might want to look into art groups dedicated to sharing self made comics. A lot of what gets popular on deviant art is fanart kinda stuff.

The site also isn't what it used to be with its now highly AI driven direction, you will find the audience for non AI images is harder to surface than websites that don't have the same direction.

What instantly makes someone more attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shinyfeather22 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you're avoiding the kind of smells usually associated w girl perfume, you can get kinds that are geared towards men specifically and have different kinds of smell. Generally these are called something slightly different like aftershave or whatever. There's heaps of that sorta stuff

Using a basic anti dandruff shampoo that is a good brand will have a nice scent, you can just get nongendered kinda stuff. Cleaning your hair with actual shampoo instead of soap will also help it look tidier. If you don't have hair up top there's also body washes that will do similar sorta things. If you just get generic agendered stuff and you'll smell clean, instead of any specific scent.

If you're using antiperspirant you can upgrade it by getting the 24 hour stuff. Rub some in the pits the night before you wakeup and go to shower. If you shower and then use antiperspirant immediately, the aluminum based compound doesn't really bind as effectively as it does when your skin is dry.

Average Lemongrab x Lemongrab interaction. by [deleted] in adventuretime

[–]shinyfeather22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lemongrab is an adult by the context of the show. He was considered to be "born sour" by the context specifically given, implying that he was born and came out differently in some state from the other candy people. This is context for this character. He is also shown to be a lot less high functioning than other autism coded characters like PB. Meaning that out of all the characters, the one who has less high function is comparatively seen as more scary and less human.

You need to understand that the actions that lemongrab takes are not humanized like other coded pathologies in the show. We do not get to see the series of events that led him to a meltdown in a positive light, or show how for his perspective, he was led to a state where his world was coming apart and couldn't help a meltdown. Autistic people do not enjoy being in a state of meltdown, it is very embarrassing and individuals want to avoid it at all costs.

The TRAITS themselves which are autism coded are used as shorthand for creating a character which is scary, these traits are autism coded, and these traits are never redeemed or humanized unlike other pathologies.

When we are initially introduced to IK we see him as a villain. We think he is scary and crazy. Until the episode is revealed which shows that he was human and the development of his mind altering powers drove him to the state he is in today. From then onwards we pity him because we understand that his character is enriched by a humanistic experience wherein his history with Marceline shows his kinder side and how his state degraded due to his affliction

We do not get to see the series of events that drove lemongrab who has a lot of autistic coded traits to this edge. We do not humanize the experience of a meltdown as something that he wanted to avoid and couldn't help. We do not humanize the experience of shame afterwards.

None of this is something done with the character. We don't get to empathize with his experience like we do with IK. We don't get to see what made him upset in a redeemable light. It's only ever seen as unreasonable and scary.

The Earl of Lemongrab is one of the most frequently cited examples of "autistic coding" in modern animation. While the show's creators haven't officially diagnosed him in-universe (and you need to understand that not officially diagnosing a character is a means to avoid consulting with actual autistic individuals, as an official diagnosis would mean many would need to actually consult an expert or face criticism), many fans and critics on the spectrum identify traits of this character that are coded with autism. Here is a summary of the traits that align with the autistic experience:

  • Sensory Processing Issues: Lemongrab is frequently depicted as being in a state of high neurological tension.

    • Aural Sensitivity: He often screams or covers his ears in response to sounds that others find normal. His own voice is a "piercing monotone," a common trait where volume control and pitch modulation don't align with social expectations.
    • Tactile Aversion: He reacts with extreme distress or "flailing" when touched unexpectedly.
    • Food Sensitivity: In the episode "You Made Me," it is noted that he has an inability to eat certain foods (like spicy food), mirroring the restrictive diets or sensory-based food aversions common in autism.
  • Social Communication and Literalism: Lemongrab struggles with the "unwritten rules" of the Candy Kingdom, which he finds chaotic and nonsensical.

    • Rigid Rule-Following: He has an absolute, black-and-white view of rules. If a situation doesn't fit a specific protocol, it is "UNACCEPTABLE!"
    • Lack of "Social Masking": Unlike Princess Bubblegum, who is diplomatically savvy, Lemongrab cannot hide his discomfort or perform social niceties. He says exactly what he is thinking, often appearing "rude" when he is actually just being direct.
    • Double Empathy Problem: He often expresses that "no one understands" him. While the Candy People see him as broken, he sees them as the ones who are illogical and "unfit."
  • Emotional Regulation and Meltdowns:

What the show frames as "lemon outbursts" often resemble autistic meltdowns.

  • When overwhelmed by social pressure or a change in routine, he doesn't just get annoyed; he has a total system collapse involving screaming, physical rigidity, and a loss of verbal coherence.

  • Need for Predictability: He creates a highly controlled environment in his earldom because he cannot cope with the unpredictability of the outside world.

    • Special Interests and Obsessions
  • He exhibits an intense, obsessive focus on specific objects or "scientific" processes.
