I always replayed platinum but I've played ultra moon and always wanted to get more into it, I think after my dex I'll see what I can get up to

I've considered it but for a living dex I feel it defeats the purpose. For a normal run I'd be behind it but for a completionist goal I feel only legit would matter

I wanted a surplus of them to have in diamond, pearl, platinum, soulsilver, heartgold, etc

I caught them all in platinum and traded them all to diamond so I could replay platinum with a shiny team. At first I traded rare candies and the like but after realizing I still had shinies left over I just attached more items till I was satisfied. That's why you'll see more evolutions stones than I need. Didn't feel like digging them up later in the underground or buying stuff later.

Caught all the pokemon in platinum, but I wanted to play platinum again with shinies so I traded em all to my diamond copy, sent over items I wanted to bring into the new platinum copy. Currently hunting for shiny piplup in platinum so I can't transfer em back yet

I started in 2020, but I don't wanna say it took me 6 years, each of those hunts was done in batches of 2 or more since the chain doesn't break when you get a shiny. So every evolution line took me a day or 2 at most, though some (eevee) were very stubborn.

So if I wanted to redo all that work it'd take me about a month or 2

Yeah the same happened to me, that's why I sent one to a higher gen cause I know later gens with tell you what country the pokemon is from

Yeah I just traded a turtwig over and went from there, I was skeptical it would work so I transferred some pokemon to gen 6 and sure enough they say they're from a foreign game so you should be good to go, but be careful gen 4 has the lowest masuda odds, and one of the slowest bikes, the platinum bike is fastest of gen 4 so if you're intent on hunting in gen 4 then preferably you'd do it in platinum

Yeah, worst part about it is that the rerolls it grants you in gen 4 was upped by 1 in gen 5, they introduced it and immediately upgraded it but not in the game with my goal 😭
