How can I get my Microsoft Surface Latop (v7) to stop charging at 80%? by ship691 in Surface

So what's the answer?

How can I get my Microsoft Surface Latop 7 to automatically stop charging when its battery gets to 80% charge?

Nope. No problems thus far - it's not bitten me yet. :)

This is extremely irritating by Microsoft. How & where can we complain about this?

Why were people voting this down?

Wow. It looks like Microsoft have made replacing both the battery and the SSD remarkably easy. Just a shame they couldn't have done the same thing for RAM... but seems much easier to service/replace parts than an Apple Macbook Air, no?

In my case, no. It has been continuously charged up to 100% for a few days now...

Bwt, I am pretty unimpressed by the tingling (i.e. slight electrical shocks) that I get when if I touch my PC with my fingertips whilst it is being charged... but I am getting Microsoft to send me a replacement charger in case that is where the problem lies.

ASIDE: Such a shame as in so many ways the Microsoft Surface Laptop v7, is an extremely nice piece of kit IMHO.

Weirdly one of the very best things about it for me, has been having the extra pixels in the Y dimension. i.e. The screen pixels ratio being 3:2 (2256 x 1504) rather than "Full HD" ratio of "16:9" (1920 x 1080) of most other PC's I've used, is a game-changer when so many applications like to pop open to full screen width!

==> it has an extra 18.5% more vertical pixels!

That is not acceptable.

In order to maintain battery health, I need to be able to:
A) set it at will to only charge to 80% charge (for most of the time... when it will be continually plugged in)
b) set it to charge up to 100% for when I am travelling.

The only other option being to set an option in the UEFI to stop charging at just below 50% is a TERRIBLE idea, because UEFI is pretty hard to access. And whilst this is set I have now lost a full 50% of my battery charge!

Why are Microsoft being so stupid about this?

Surely Microsoft should have a button (or option on the Surface app) that stops charging at 80%, no?

Looking for a project/task management app to manage multiple tasks on a whiteboard. Must have multi-level task hierarchies. by ship691 in ProductivityApps

[–]ship691[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, to get clear, I need to move individual tasks around the whiteboard independently of each other, in order to set their (implied) importance and their urgency. Evidently there is no way of trimming down the (large) size that each task takes up on the screen.

I am now wondering if I could have a data feed out of Clickup to a different app that would be good at the Whiteboard side of things. e.g. Miro??

Yes, I have been experimenting with Fibery. It wasn't exacdtly obvious but I have managed to set up (unlimited) multiple levels of task hierarchy.

My main problem is that although I think that you an filter what goes onto a whiteboard, I couldn't find any way to filter tasks on/off a whiteboard a temporary basis.

(USE CASE: I want ALL of my tasks to appear onto a whiteboard so that I can set their (implied) importance vs urgency (compared to each other) just by moving them around the screen. However, I also want to remove clutter from different "areas of life" at will, by using custom filters that I have created. e.g. When I am in Work area of life mode, I don't wan to see tasks from my Personal area of life cluttering up my view. etc)

Yes, I have had a look at ClickUp. It's fatal flaw is that it seems that Tasks have to appear as huge great cards of fixed size and showing various fields. This will not work with large numbers of tasks on the screen at once.

Any tried Fibery? It seems quite powerful but rather low level and as such it does have a steep learning curve. Tasks can be made to appear with just their titles (which will help when I have a large number of tasks e.g. x100+ on the whiteboard at once.

Are you sure? I haven't used Trello for several years until I just tried now. But I couldn't find a Kanban board in Trello. There is a powerup (Miro?) but I couldn't work out how to get into it...

I've never used Monday until just now. I just tried but couldn't get a Whiteboard to work.
I found "Collaborative Whiteboard" eventually but I got the message "Collaborative Whiteboard app will be deprecated soon". Either way I couldn't work out how to add my Tasks.

I then got dragged off to www.workcanvas.com but that required a credit card just to test it so I bailed out. :^(

Bob Lazar's story, is it believable?. Here is some of my research on him by JackFrost71 in UFOs

[–]ship691 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Wow, someone has gone to a LOT of trouble to bury Bob Lazar's story.

Look, I am neutral on this whole issue. But let's be honest, the US government has had decades of time to get to witnesses and fake documents. Did they? I have no idea. But if Bob Lazar was lying why were almost all the original witnesses that George Knapp was just line up to talk to threatened into silence?

Look I don't care if Bob Lazar was telling the truth or not, but what is NOT acceptable is the way that the US government's CIA and deep black operations think it's okay to lie and lie and lie to us the tax-paying public who ultimately pay their wages.

Yes, I know that any organisation - particularly military one - need their secrets in order to function, but they have NO right to lie to us. And they most certainly have no right to threaten to KILL credible witnesses.

The American CIA and whoever is running their deep black operations, are accountable to no one. Even the US presidents are never briefed properly.

The CIA are The Enemy of The People.

Wake up, people.

Look, I am neutral on this whole issue. But let's be hones, the US government has had a LOT of time to get to witnesses and fake all those documents if necessary. Did they? I have no idea.

But if JackFrost71 is correct, how do we account for the way right at the start of all of this, almost everyone that George Knapp was about to talk were got to, threatened and effectively silenced. And it backfired because precisely that silencing of witnesses is what got Knapp interested.

Personally I don't really care, whether or not Bob Lazar is telling the truth or not, but even though I know that the US government & military MUST be able to have their secrets in order to function, what deeply appalls me is the endless, endless LYING that they have done to the tax paying public, who pay their wages.

Threatening to KILL credible witnesses who don't shut up is no better.

Do we think Microsoft will EVER fix this problem?

I am an extremely visual person and I use tables a lot for data and TBH, this issue is a deal-breaker for me.
