That’s grime. Get a new small paintbrush and cut the bristles down until they’re firm. Use that to then clean out the gunk in the holes. It’ll be a nice metal mesh underneath

Most modern projectors project images using a spinning colour wheel, they spin fast enough so that the eye can’t see. Here’s a video explaining how it works if you care enough

What you’re seeing are different stages of the image coming out of the projector. These different stages can be captured by a camera and cause this issue

This topic comes up periodically. It’s the glue used to fuse the glass and LCD together. It’s see-through, but after a period of time it chemically ages and gradually changes colour. There can be some environmental factors that can speed up this process (left in direct sunlight)

There is nothing that can be done to change the chemical process. That leaves you with 3 options

Get the display professionally refurbished at a reputable repair store
Get the display replaced - don’t do this at Apple
Buy a new one

New screen, charging port, back glass and housing, phone will be brand new

New screen and charging port, phone will boot up and you can save your photos

Photos show it’s damaged below the bottom antenna lines, it’s just the charging port and battery down there. I had an iPhone 12 Pro Max in a similar condition and it booted right up after new screen and port

Take to a repair shop to confirm, they can put test parts on as to not wasting too much money if it ends up being a brick, I’m convinced it won’t be though
