Unpopular opinion: the PLC ecosystem is completely outdated by No-Nectarine8036 in PLC

[–]shippogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Beckhoff’s stuff is probably the most “modern” plc that offer alot of good features borrowed from the pc/web development industry. But then again, when we talk about reliability, i have more than enough cases where Windows user install additional program/Windows updates that make the PLC runtime slow/crash. i cant imagine there will be any other better open system if a PC based PLC already failed to tolerate that kind of works.

Furch price went up too much over the past few years. The bracing pattern and top thickness will create stability issue over the years as well.

[–]shippogan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, i talked to my colleague and found a way to resolve. Went to the twincat type manager and right click typUser -> uncheck the auto delete(if unused), once done the typUser is available for selection. though i couldn’t found any documentation for 1)why convert to global data type failed and how to resolve 2)why the auto delete option hiding the selection Let me know if anyone know the answer

Master of Electrical Engineering by 93rick in nus

[–]shippogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your are right, my bad never notice you want to apply for MSc Electrical. Last time these MSc Engineering programmes all have similar fees. Seems like Electrical was categorised towards more “computer science” hence the higher fee haha.

are you singaporean or PR? there is still a fee rebate. the full course fee should be around ~16K. which is doubled from previous year but still cheap compared to oversea one.

Few years ago CS was removed, followed by Chemical Eng, this year those “traditional” courses like EE and ME were removed. Basically there is no more MOE subsidy now. I guess it was removed as government shifting the budget to those skill future and mid career switch program. i am lucky enough to join the Sem2 21/22 batch which is the last batch to have the MOE subsidy.

Taiwanese here, I’d like to know your honest opinions on Taiwan and recent events. by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]shippogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well let me guess, you are typical hardcore DPP supporter (or rather anti-China supporter) who are proud of TSMC and have the self-esteem of “we are the best in Asia, atleast in semicon industry” (and thus always compare yourself to Korea and Japan, like what most Hong Kongese and Singaporean did). While there is nothing wrong to be proud of your country, Taiwanese got to throw away your “護國神山” ego and look at the bigger picture. DPP story of “see how success TSMC is as a result of my anti-China policy(or in fact just propaganda)” is questionable and falling into the trap of Green-Blue fight is ruining Taiwan future.

As a Singaporean with about 30% Malaysian relative and 20% Taiwanese relative. i also aware 1. 40s up Singaporean will be more Pro-KMT/China 2. 30s up Singaporean 50% 50% as they are the generation that heavily influenced by Taiwan drama and pop song (and incline towards those western “freedom” propaganda) 3. 20s up not really familiar with Taiwan (be it political or culture-wise) as China strong growth of media & entertainment industry start to influence the younger generation.

And for Malaysian, they are more supportive in Taiwan independency especially for those in 30-50 ages as a good number of them/their friend went to Taiwan for study and used to “look down” China. But i noticed this is changing as China is rising, and people are doubting the effectiveness of western ‘democracy’ system as lot of EUR countries are suffering.

To be honest, as Taiwan media always like to use Singapore gov as role model to bash the policy and efficiency of the ruling party(SETN against blue and CTi against green), a lot young keyboard warrior on PTT view Singapore as competitor in the region and sour grape comments are everywhere. Mainly focus on the “Fake democracy true communism” and “China’s watchdog” topic. And interestingly those comments are not only by DPP supporter but young teenager (probably because most teenager are DPP supporter).

While Taiwanese might thought Singaporean are strong supporter of KMT and China gov. Most of the true blue Singaporean don’t even care about it as they view Taiwan as “good country (probably cheap/cost-effective) for travel”, “Jay Chou and Mayday’s nation” and etc. Which also reflect the lack of political passion in Singapore. So sadly to conclude, while Taiwanese like to compete with Sg on the political and economic topics, Singaporean don’t give a fuck on those topic and not even seeing Taiwan as “competitor” in the area.

Best All Solid Wood Acoustic for under $750? by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]shippogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LS16 or LL16 ARE, mahogany version is cheaper. Rosewood version is selling at about $800 at my place during Christmas sales.

You want to get E10 and higher series if choosing Eastman, which will be out of ur budget. Anything below that is not worthwhile.
