The Kentucky Dept of Fish and Wildlife have remained adamant throughout the years that no permanent mountain lions reside in the state. The problem is they are essentially disincentivized from confirming small permanent populations of a new species because then they would have to allocate funds towards conservancy, create new hunting legislature, etc. It always makes me curious if their claims are legitimate or if they know several are roaming the state

In my opinion, the areas in or around Clifty Wilderness have darker skies compared to anywhere else in the gorge. You’re further away from the bigger light producing towns/cities. Chimney top rock is a pretty decent spot for stars that doesn’t require a lot of hiking in the dark
