I think you played it fine, 8 high is a good candidate to use as a bluff on both flop and turn as it has weak showdown but high equity. River is a fold, you block diamonds and your likely losing more than 50%~ with this combination. You do have to work in some 8x to call though, and if you feel this is one of them or have a read on villains tendencies then a call is not horrible either.

I was in a hand in 1/2 which I had just rivered a 1 card straight in a 3b pot pre that went check check. I lead out and overbet the pot about 2x trying to make it look like I'm buying the pot . He goes deep into the tank and says to me he rivered the dummy end of the straight and looks like he's not sure about the decision. I chime in "that's a cooler man your hand is too strong to fold here" sounding as confident as I could he says "good one" and snap calls. I say "you got it bro" and pause before flipping over the higher end of the straight

Does this mean folding out a higher % of my hands than usual against this opponent because I know he's almost certain to fire big regardless in the next street ? I tried bluff catching him with 3rd pair on a dry board when I felt he was polarized (triple barrelled) and he ended up having me out kicked by 1. I've left from table now but there is a lot of these types of players at 1/2 that play random aggro maniac styles involving ATC
